Why do you use Intel/AMD/Nvidia?

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

Why do you use Intel/AMD/Nvidia?
>>
Because they aere able to give me the performance I wanted for the best costs
The alternatives wouldn't have been the performance I wanted
>>
Because I used to use Broadcom but after getting a 1440p monitor for christmas (which RPi:s don't support) and struggling with modern web browsing, I realized that anything else than modern PC for desktop computing is a bad meme.

AMD

Because games, and because NVIDIA's driver policy with regard to VMs pissed me right the fuck off.

Hardware has the capability but you can't use it because it's in a VM = kys team green

>ESXi can't easily hide it either
>>
Nvidia = usually just werks and they jew you out for that
AMD GPU = still problematic because of buggy/missing drivers
Intel GPU = usually just werks, very reliable for anything not related to GAYMES
>>

why do I use:

> Intel
bought a i5-3570k that still works, and nothing released subsequently was enough faster to warrant replacing CPU/mobo/RAM.

> AMD
bought a RX 480 somewhat reluctantly since my GTX 670 had been aging poorly, and the 1070/1080 seemed like poor deals stemming from lack of high-end competition.

> Nvidia
my HD 6950 died and I sprung for a GTX 670 out of fear that a slightly too expensive 7950/7970 might have issue too.
I don't plan on ever paying >=$400 for an Nvidia card again, since their architectures just have changed too fast for them to bother maintaining good software support for old cards.
>>
Where can I get a CPU capable of modern performance requirements that isn't Intel AMD?

Shoot yourself at an awkward downward angle in the head.
When you wake up from your coma there should be at least one cell phone processor capable of matching today's desktop CPUs
>>
>>59052972
>implying cell phones arent government sponsored surveillance devices
>>
>>59051295

I just use whatever fits my budget and needs at the time because i'm not a gigantic faggot that has loyalties to corporations.

You had a fucking laptop. Stop pretending that's representative.

Why aren't there any Vivante or Adreno PCIe graphics cards?

I'd be ok with small PCIe 1x card but there aren't any available. I'd jam one in my AMD board the moment they released one.

Have had AMD systems my entire life and that is completely true. Freesync for example is fucked but slowly getting better.
