The original name was clearly chosen exactly so they could piggyback off of PassThePopcorn's integrity and popularity to begin with. They had no right to do that in the first place, because, as the announcement states, they are completely unrelated. It was a cheap move, they should have changed it much much earlier. Don't deal with these people, they have no morals.

Good fucking luck fixing that.

You cant do much with the name Redacted can you.

That pretty much sums it. Just wait.
>>
>>59051161
>Knock it off. "Redacted, Inc." is not the same as our site, and no reputable cybersecurity firm is going to hack us nor post user details publicly because of us using a similar name.

>>
>>59051502
I seriously wonder why they're not going with flacsfor.me and the logo of a cute creature/charachter hugging a CD or something as mascotte

and a relatively simple logo in a nice font saying "flacsfor.me"

just look at how WCD and APL did their logo, it was simple but it worked

Because that site address is already taken, retard.

This also demonstrates why there was no vote on this name change. If they posted a list of potential names then some internet shitlord could register them all and ruin the whole thing.

Still its hypocritical if you look at the forums.

User comes, posts and says PTH was ugly everyone backs him up.

Another user comes, posts that the new name is stupid, ends up being mocked by several users.

Go look im not making this up. Black on white.

I could probably win one if I wanted to, got hundreds of millions of points lying around, no use for them since I don't feel like grinding the retarded amounts of snatches I'd need for any more promotions.

But I just question the use of buying a seedbox I can only use for one month, I feel like I'd just get used to the convenience and then at the end of the month either feel terrible having to go back or be tempted to renew (probably the entire point of the seedbox company participating in this) when I'm perfectly happy without one right now.

If you took a FLAC audio file, used it to transcode a 320kbps MP3 file, and then repeatedly transcoded the 320kbps MP3 file into another 320kbps MP3 file, after doing this thousands of times would the sound eventually turn to complete mush?

Hmm, interesting. I think I understand how it works for the most part now. One thing I'm still not sure about however is how could they tell if you, for example, used a 320kbps to transcode a V2, how would you be able to tell this? I understand that it is inferior to a lossless-to-lossy encode, but surely this would be nigh on impossible to distinguish in the spectral or aurally.

Hi Folks,

BTN is ratioless, and clearly very successful. So when we see new trackers like RED/PTH, etc, turn up with ratios, it kind of blows my mind that we're still using an antiquated method like that.

Ratios generally require a zero-sum reality, and life just isn't like that. Not only that ratio trackers make the users feel less interested in trying new things because of the "cost" of such things, and then they need to do a return-on-investment consideration. "If I download this, will I ever get ratio back for it?". Chances are, if it's a low popularity item, you will never get ratio back for it.

This all seems very counter-productive to the whole sharing culture we've built for ourselves here.

I think ratioless is the way to go. What do you guys think?

Kek. Should swap out the regular skull and replace it with the misfits logo to make it even edgier.
>>
>>59054407
If you look at the audio spectral, you will notice blocks, which is the artifact that you are hearing. The more an mp3 is transcoded, the bigger the blocks get (and the more noticeable the artifact is). Even a single transcode is noticeable with any decent pair of headphones.
>>
If there's a cutoff at 20 khz with no shelf, what does that mean?
>>
>>59054490
Ratios don't require a zero-sum reality because you can operate with variations. Freeleeches, freeleech picks, and freeleech tokens all ensure that every user could potentially have a >1 ratio. Furthermore, the tracker doesn't even require a >1 ratio, there are different standards depending on how much you downloaded but the maximum possible minimum requirement on RED is only 0.6, and that's only for people who've downloaded a lot who should probably be contributing a fair chunk back too. On top of this, they also give a newbie buffer to get started which I believe was 5GB but I may be mistaken.

I would rather see them do it differently, but they're doing it like this because that's how WCD won the previous music tracker war, and they're scared of rocking the boat since this is the only way they can guarantee results. When WCD did this no one would have dreamed a ratioless tracker could be successful, of course BTN has proved that's they can well be, but no one has proved it with a music tracker and probably never will. The only one I can think of is Libble which is for all intents and purposes a dead and pointless tracker.
>>
>>59054303
HDB only allows one internal of each quality, so if a different group beats them to the 1080p they won't do it unless a proper is needed.
>>
>>59054490
A ratioless system would never work on a tracker like RED, just sain'.
Maybe on APL.

@echo off

Let that run for about an hour and then convert the wav back to flac. Create the torrent and upload.

Hi, Weaponized_Pencils!
>>
>>59054490
Ratioless works for BTN as there is a limited supply of tv and thus users do not need to have that many torrents seeded in order for the whole sites torrents to be available. With BTN around 19000 torrents can be spread across 34k users. On [retarded] the average user needs to seed over 40 torrents to keep all of the torrents alive on the site.

Ratio based doesn't seem to work well, so maybe some system that requires a seed size * rarity factor to download ratio to be maintained at all time could work. The required ratio system sucks because you can't advance user classes just from maintaining a large seed size without downloads.

>>
>>59054782
I think point systems that increment based on how long you seed stuff are good to encourage retention. BTN's system would be a good example if its already being ratioless didn't make it mostly irrelevant.

Lot of people don't like point systems though because they feel it invalidates their investment in seedboxes and shit.
