My phone's not rooted so I've been using DNS66.

Adaway. DNS66 if you're not rooted.

AdAway since it doesn't need to be running all the time, you also can't use a VPN with DNS66 since it works by using a local VPN connection. Only benefit of DNS66 over AdAway is that you can whitelist individual apps.
