Hello I am a Verizon Shill. More correctly I am a Solutions Specialist or "salesman" if you don't buy into doublethink.

Since the unlimited data bombshell dropped this week I figured it was time for another thread.

Ask anything and I'll answer to the best of my knowledge. No information that will expose my identity of course.

"Unlimited" is obviously a lie. Lay it out for us. Soft caps? Throttling? Bullshit fees if my phone passes the bytes it downloads onto my computer (i.e. tethering)?

The way it has been explained, which christ knows that isn't gospel, is smart phones and tablets have unlimited 4G LTE data. Up to a 22gb "priority" soft cap.

What this means is that you are not immediately throttled back but if there is enough congestion on the local network you will be slowed down to make room for other less data hungry users. This is an acceptable middle ground between true unlimited and hard throttling. Basically if it is busy and you are in a high population area you can see slower speeds but only if the network is stressed. If you live a less populated area or there is a stronger tower setup you could potentially use 200gb of data and never see a slow down.

So it only limits speeds if it will slow down everyone else to keep you at 4G LTE.

Also you get 10gb of mobile hotspot on smart devices and tablets and jetpacks. That is a hard throttle down to 3G however. Cannot replace your home internet. Unless you're willing to watch everyone on a mobile device.

Those aren't terrible terms as far as defining an "unlimited" data plan, but the Verizon plans are still hilariously overpriced.

If they ever get that unlimited plan down to $60 - 70 a month (*after* all the bullshit fees and taxes) and stop their infuriating habit of delaying and denying android OTA updates I might consider coming back.

t. Verizon customer for a decade who left because of their bullshit and now happily uses Google Fi.

why yall infest t-mobile posts on facebook?
>>
maybe if you fucks would have activated a new sim in my phone i would still be using it.

version is a shitheap
>>
>>59044434
I don't have a kikebook. I wouldn't know.

Better question is why didn't we cuck the living shit out of T-mobile by releasing unlimited data RIGHT after they spent 23 million on shitty soft core S&M commercial.

>>59044449
Sorry m8 but we don't like phones that were not specifically designed for Verizon. The newer iPhones have the ability to cross carriers but even then half the time they won't work.
>>
>>59044477
>not designed
then upgrade your fucking network past cdma you shills. stop jewing
>>
>>59044477
because you fell for their uncarrier trap

HAH GOTTEM
>>
I have an old grandfather unlimited with no throttle at all even after 100GB, will you guys be switching us over to the new unlimited as well? I don't like being throttled especially since I use my phone with hotspot for my home internet
>>
>>59044633
Far as we've been told grandfathered unlimited will still be honored. We were told that high end users 100-200gb could be kicked off entirely but never heard of a case of it actually happening.

Now that we actually offer unlimited... I don't know what the official word will be. They might let the old plans stand or push you all to the new unlimited. I'm guessing we're going to be so busy analyzing the new data usage patterns and customer's reaction to give a shit about .013% of old unlimited users.
>>
Well this died rather quickly. Quick bump before I nod off.
>>
I still have the grandfathered unlimited data, as well as a discount for being a Best Buy employee. Should I switch or is my plan still better?
>>
>>59045486
Depends on exactly how much you use. The newer plan is a bit cheaper for a single line. It cannot be used for unlimited mobile hotspot however. So if you are running your house and life off the unlimited data I'd say stay where you are. If you are a lower end unlimted user or just use the data on your device the newer plan will likely be cheaper.

>$65 for plan
>$20 for line access
>unlimited device data for $85
Can knock off an extra $5 if you enroll in autopay.
>>
>>59045584
I try to use as much as possible tethering because my WiFi is slow as shit and the Hotspot feature says I have to pay like $30 a month or some shit but you are the one who warned me about them kicking people off who go over 100GB and that turned out to be true so I'm not taking any chances. I'll stick with it for now, if I somehow happen to get kicked off by accident or something I'll transfer over. Thanks shillbrah
>>
How do you know somebody is tethering? On a technical level I mean.
>>
>>59047086
Front end we have no idea. Back end, fucking space magic. Pretty much all plans in the last 3 years don't give a shit about tethering and have it included just like unlimited minutes and texts. It has become so mundane there is no reason to charge extra for it.

Obviously with unlimited plans this becomes more important. Old unlimited plans had to add an extra $30 feature to use tethering. The new unlimited has a cap at 10gb.

Some day soon Verizon will offer unlimited home internet on par with cable based companies. Technology and greed stand in the way but eventually it was come around.
>>
Used to be on verizon now on T-Mobile.

Far cheaper, and I can upgrade 3 times a year.

Verizon are complete jews.
