should i run something demanding, lightweight, idle, or not touch my computer at all after re-applying new thermal paste?

with the motherboard laying horizontally, run a CPU stress test until thermals stabilize. keep it running for a while, this will help spread the paste out a little more.
that's the best thing to do, theoretically. I don't think it makes much of a difference though.
