>tfw still using i7 920
do i have the oldest daily driver rig on /g/?
doubt it
you have queers on here using core duos
>>59039939
Haha no, you should see the poorfag speccy threads.
>>59039939
Slightly older than the Phenom II I'm currently using, yet also better.
chuck an x5650 or other decent 1366 xeon i nthere
Lol no not even close. That said I'm still using an i7 930 and see no reason to upgrade.
Stuck a Titan in there 2 months ago after I moved my 7970GE to my HTPC and it runs great
>>59039939
>i7 920 @ 3Ghz (lost the silicon lotto)
>6 GB of that sweet Triple-Channel RAM
>gtx 260 loud as fuck despite careful cleaning
>500GB 7200RPM WD BLACK still going strong after a decade of use
>1080p 21" LCD acer monitor of the same vintage still going strong albeit with a lot of smudges
Probably the longest lasting pieces of tech I've ever owned. Never imagined back then I'd have the same hardware in ten years but why the fuck am I going to upgrade? I stopped gaming after college and my day job is web development so I don't need horsepower.
Only thing that makes me consider upgrading is the noise and power consumption but i'll probably wait until the fall.
>>59040788
unless you pay a metric fuckton for electricity upgrading a computer to make it more power efficient usually takes a decade or more to pay for itself, if it ever does.
>>59040788
Get an SSD and a refurb 750 ti.
>>59040990
Nah m8. She's going to stay all-original until the day I retire her. :^)
>>59039939
e8400. ryzen wouldn't have arrived soon enough.
>>59039939
stfu, newfag
otherwise you'd know there are anons still using pentium 4 and atoms
Q9550 here

I was browsing /g/ on a sega dreamcast the other day.

You could have saved and got a 1070, you won't see a difference between the 2.
This makes me feel good about my 8350.
It performs pretty much identically to my old 955 in games, although much better in non-game situations.
>>59039939
My shitbox at work is still running an Athlon X2 5400B. The iGPU died a few weeks back so I swapped in a GT 240 we had lying around in our spare parts.

>tfw waiting for Ryzen
>>59041082
You're missing out. I had the exact same build you did, slapped in an old SATA 2 speed SSD and it was amazing. And that was a total shit SSD in comparison to today's.
>>59041820
>i7
>not Core 2 Quad

Lightweight.
>tfw two Xeon X5482s
Can't swap anything newer into it. Stuck with two 3.2 ghz quad cores from 2008, but too lazy to build an actual PC.

You're one of those fuckers with a 30 year old Volvo aren't you.

Titan is a 4 year old GPU
Been waiting for Zen all these years.
It's still pretty decent for what I'm doing except for video encoding.
I just put my 930 in my home server when I broke down and got a Skylake system. More than enough for a few VMs, a game server, and my storage. Maybe I'll get one of those $50 six-core Xeons for it anyway.
>>59042255
well it depends which he has, true.
>>59039939
>tfw pentium d + g210
>>59039939
I don't think so. There are people here swearing by for literal 90s tech.
>>59042384
>$300 Titan
It's probably the original
>>59039939
I have a 920 from a bricked mobo and cant find a cheap 1366 mobo for it
Any advice or just buy whatever I can find on ebay? Seems like a waste of a perfectly good cpu, goddamn intel and their socket changes
>>59042906
Did you try Craigslist or warehouse clearances? NCIX had a warehouse sale and I bought a 1366 board for $20

You're giving them too much credit

good point, anyone that calls themselves a web developer is automatically a 100% code-academy-made-a-static-HTML-page tier loser
>>59043048

I know. I actually thought less but I really want to cling to the delusion that I'm here with 20- and 30-somethings rather than literal 12-year-olds

I just upgraded my mom to a i7 870 with 8GB RAM after 8 years of a core 2 duo with 2GB RAM and Vista/7. Ran like a champ though.

Ive been saying JUST WAIT for years.
I dont game as much anymore so
I dont regret holding onto it, seeing how bad Intel has gotten with the market.
A new case might be nice, but I really like the P183.
AMD PLEASE.
