"making your own" defeats the purpose. you want a seedbox to insulate yourself from anti-piracy groups and to provide always-up service. if you run it on your own box and use a VPN, great, but you need to be damn sure that VPN is always on and working, because even if it's turned off for a second, you just leaked your IP, negating the 99.9% of the time it was working. Think it won't happen? Random reboots, VPN service goes down, VPN software fails, these things happen.

Using a VPS doesn't make sense, because most of them aren't going to protect your ass from anti-piracy groups and will cough up your name and details if they get threatened. So what was the point of using them again?
