Maybe you could install better fonts, or a different font rendering engine.

I don't get what you're saying. Are you saying Windows has better fonts? Maybe. Better font rendering? You're actually wrong. I don't find pleasure in reading on windows with that stupid font rendering. I don't see how could anyone.

I have a custom font renderer and for some reason, firefox renders text in two passes.
First very thin and light, then it darkens.

The firefox screenshot script, for some reason, only captures the first pass.

I can't figure out why it does that.

cairo is fucking weird.

tb.h I think fonts are worse on windows. It's not really a big deal with higher resolutions though.

Then again I run i3wm so it's not like I care about rice and prettifying things, it objectively looks like dogshit but it's very functional, just like my neon colored jogging shoes

When you have a job where you look at a computer all day you'll tend to be more observant of subtleties like this, and naturally, you'll want it to look nicer.

I do not understand the meaning of "nicer font". If I can see it, then I can see it.

>>59031719
change all your system fonts to comic sans and disable all aliasing and then say that

that's what shit rendering is like for us with refined taste in font rasterization

>>59031745
But some things can be more aesthetically pleasing than others. Nobody here is arguing that poorly rendered text is illegible, just that it looks ugly.
