@4ghz 1.25v cause i havent changed the bios yet. still gets to 90 when i run p95. probably need to repaste.
>>59021714
I have a potato Haswell Pentium and GT 430.
May I ask... What's the bare minimum GPU that can max out Crysis @720p? I was surprised the GT 430 couldn't do it. I know it's a weak card, but that's a 2007 game. Something's wrong, either my PC underperforming or requirements of Crysis being total BS.
>>59023401
The engine for Crysis is one of the most inefficient pieces of programming ever.
>>59021714
I could probably get the voltage lower if I felt like spending a couple hours tinkering

Jesus, at least ask some one who knows his shit

>64GB RAM
It's probably a workstation, which excuses the 60fps monitor but doesn't in any way excuse the DDR3
>>59024813
Even scrolling looks better at 144 Hz. Not that it's that important, but when you buy a Titan, why not go all the way.
Will the 1600x be the worthy successor?

Would it be worth it to move to a Z97 Pro4 + 4790k? I can get it relatively cheap, in my country, but I'm not sure if it would be a worthy "upgrade", lately I'm only using my computer for shitposting and the occasional indieshit on Steam.

Got this on craigslist like 10 months ago for $500. When I showed up the guy threw in a Gigabyte mechanical keyboard and gaming mouse and a cheap ASUS 23" monitor. It's also got like 10 fans in it and a 1000w EVGA psu because I guess he was running sli gtx 980s at some point.
Did I do good?
>>59026541
all of that + a decent KB/M and monitor for $500 is a deal. You did good.
I know I can push 4ghz, but I am yet to try it out.
>Furmark at 1FPS
CPU-Z Stress for some reason drowns out furmark otherwise it'd be at ~132fps and my temp would be ~50c max
>>59026650
you can literally do 4ghz no problem 200x20 ez
laptop just came in the mail an hour ago, got it for $400. battery dies very quick but i cant seem to find an oem battery anywhere in my country
>>59026729

I am still an overclocking noob
My R9 280 just died days ago and now i'm using this nvidia quadro just for watching chinese cartoons and shitposting. 2 years and 3 months.
Waiting for Zen probably i'll never buy expensive graphic meme cards again. RX 460 or GTX 1050ti are my next cards.

>>59026818

put this together on an extreme budget 3 years ago as a student working part time stacking shelves.
probably will upgrade this year for slightly higher budget (£400-500) likely with ryzen.
>>59026811
>r9 280
>Expensive
Sorry to break it to you, but that card is far from expensive. That and you may have just gotten unlucky with a defective model. All cards have the potential for that to happen. Even $1k+ Titan X's.
>>59026851
Did you buy these parts new? If you're on an "extreme budget" then I think you're far better off buying older, top-end gear vs new low-mid tier gear. You can probably find loads of people trying to offload 4-5-6 gen i7 systems for cheap
>>59026821
Nice space heater. What does it draw at idle? Couple hundred watts?
>>59026917
p much this, my rig is >>59024838 and was about £340 all in.
>>59026912
In 3rd world shitholes technology are expensive. I paid R$ 999 on my R9 280 2 years ago, now, 2 years later the price decreased ~100
RX 460 4GB (almost the same performance) costs 540.
>>59026912
oh, and my old HD6850 lasted 2 years too. I've seen people using the same card for 4 years, and only mine lasts so litte.. Never OC, lots of fans on the case, manually controlling the fan (max temp of it was 55ºC..
>>59026840
sure that would be great
>>59026939
>>59026963
maybe you're just getting bad batches of AMD cards shipped over seas? And if you had 2 cards die like that, maybe check your power supply for any sort over voltage fluctuation? Your PSU might be overvolting the card. Is your PSU modular? Maybe try new 8/6 pins.
>>59026821
Holy shit. At least you have something nice for winter.
>>59026991
this is for a gigabyte board but it should generally be the same.
cpu clock ratio: 20x
blck frequency: 200mhz
qpi ratio: x36
uncore clock ratio: x16
memory multiplier: 8.0
under "advanced cpu features" have all cores and hyperthreading enabled, disable all the other stuff.
voltages:
load line calibration enabled
cpu vcore: 1.26875 (that is the lowest i found stable for me)
QPI/VTT voltage: 1.315v
CPU PLL: 1.880V
IOH core: 1.200v
ICH core: 1.200v
DRAM voltage: 1.540v
note: that cpu vcore is the lowest stable for me, you should realistically set it to about 1.3v, run a good benchmark/burn in like realbench or intelbrntest. if it passes then lower the cpu vcore a notch or two, run tests again and keep doing that until a crash then stick it up a little and you should be fine. good luck

First card died while i was using a Huntkey Balance King 5000, it died after i cleaned the video card. I really doubt it was the Power supply.
My current power supply is an OCZ Modstream 600w Semi Modular, I have 4 HDD's (2 of them are notebook HDDs, i use them just to download torrents and install some games because of the great sequencial read/write.
7 fans, 3 connected in an NZXT fan controller and the rest connected into a molex cable.
This is what's happening.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=185zcZ7KgPg
Some people suggested reflow the video card
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Du863owEhC4
This system in full load consumes 500w of energy. My R9 280 used 6/8 pins.
After disconnecting everything and letting just one hdd plugged in i got the same problem.
But yeah, it could've happen even with an nVidia GTX 1080.
>>59027078
explains a lot since i only have a h50 and it was melting at 1.45vcore
>>59027071
thanks senpai, I will give it a go later tonight if I have the time. :^)
>>59027122
gl, 4.0 is pretty easy to achieve and runs somewhat cool for these chips but it's fucky once you go past that point. still 2.67 to 4.0 is a solid oc.
Don't have my storage subsystem all put together yet (moving to new case) but wanted to show off a bit.
Getting a another 4tb seagate hdd.
cpu @ 4.5ghz
tfw shitbox from 2012

If I had the hindsight I would have bought used then and probably have the same performance for what I do anyway.
I mean, I have a friend I play overwatch with on the weekends who has a 550ti and an athlon II lol
Now, my opinion has changed, but so has my income status so idk.

Delided 4790k replaced shit paste with Liquid Ultra. Now [email protected] with 1.245 vcore and on a basic evo 212. FPU stress never gets above 80 degrees. Non fpu stress test never gets above 70. Can hit 4.7Ghz at 1.28vcore. Your voltage is a bit to high anon.

went to a 5820k for 3D modelling and lighting workloads, no improvement over my old 2500k for games. Really should have just bought a new gpu would have made a bigger difference in most of my work and bonus fps in games benefit
>>59028366
>144hz for what
>>59028897
for me it's sharing
>>59028366
Duh, it's one GTX per pixel. Everyone knows a GTX works faster when it's paired with a physical pixel. IE you should get a GTX 1070 for 1070p, GT 720 for 720p etc.
>tfw 4K display so have to use GTX hyperthreading
Sound cards are useful sometimes... such as for cheap home theater pcs that don't have 5.1/7.1 support built in
>>59021714
4790k here too.
Does Speccy not show the correct CPU speed? My processor is @ 4.5GHz
>>59030852
It shows the stock speed, but the current multiplier if you click on it.

>>59033044
What do you mean? Games? I don't play games on my computer. The rare time I play any game it's on my modded ps2.
