Why shouldn't I just be using Linux Mint xfce edition instead of the Cinnamon edition?
I thought xfce is the superior DE

xfce is popular with people who only have 4GB or RAM because it uses less than Cinnamon. But if you have more RAM, Cinnamon is superior in every which way possible. I don't even know where to start comparing the two because it's like comparing MacOSX and Win95. It's a huge difference between the two.
It's an issue of personal preference.
You like cinnamon? Use it.
XFCE's better in your opinion? Use it.

But xfce is much more agile and additionally rock stable
Cinnamon is a gnome shell, shouldn't it have the same fundamental problems as windows ricing and unity?
>>59017602
You should just use Lubuntu or Xubuntu
>>59017867
Why don't you just use cinnamon for 5 minutes and then try posting about. Could be on Fedora, could be on arch for anyone cares
I used Lunix Cinnamon on my old Sony Viao.
I was astonished that the system automatically installed the drivers to use the special sony Fn commands. Also, the trackpad features all worked as they should too.
I was a believer from then on.
The only ONE thing that stops me from using Mint is the file explorer interface when I'm uploading images...it's set to only one way (icons+preview)--I can't change from a list view, to a thumbnail etc.
In file explorer it's great, but not when I'm uploading things.

It's the only DE that has a built in widget that restarts the desktop because Cinnamon is so unstable. 'Nuff said.
>>59017980
There is no such thing as Linux Cinnamon, tho.
>>59017918
Your post suggests that I am right and Cinnamon is extremely unstable.
Because if it were comparable stable to xfce I would need to run it 24/7 for weeks to compare it to xfce.
That's also the reason I am asking, tomorrow I will get a new SSD and I need to choose now which DE I will use

XFCE is comfy

Linux Mint--cinnamon distro.

>Cinnamon is so unstable
The fuck... I'm using it for 3 years now. It's stable as fuck. I think it's like with everything in Linux: It depends on the hardware compatibility. With me Debian+Cinnamon works great.
If you like cinnamon, you'll probably like cinnamon mint, since they do it best.
There's no reason to use mint otherwise.
>mint

xfce uses shit tier thunar, which crashes on renaming and moving files all the time. I still prefer xfce.
