This thread is for the discussion of anything regarding web browsers and search engines.

Question of the thread:
What web browser do you use and why?
>>
>>59014590
To all you guys that use Firefox now, will you use it after the addon switch?

>What web browser do you use and why?
I use Firefox because I'm used to it.
>>
>>59014590
Botnet Chrome because it's fast and i don't care that Google knows what porn im watching
>>
Have anyone tried QupZilla here? How is it?
>>
>>59016596
It's pretty good, although it has issues playing videos here and there.
>>
>>59014670
I might switch off until the essentials are back in, but the change will be good in the long run. I only use 3-4 addons anyway, so don't plan on using something else for long
>>
>>59016644
Same here, the only addons i use are ublock origin and https everywhere.
>>
>>59016676
>https everywhere
I'm using uBlock, Greasemonkey and Stylish. Since they are some of the most popular I'm sure it won't take long until they are adapted.
>>
>>59014670

Can you redpill my what addon switch ?

Which lightweight browser does /g/ recommend for Android? I want multiple sessions but I don't like using Chrome's incognito because of the "Click to close all incognito sessions" notification.

this

firefox

werks
>>
>>59014590
why firefox nightly is considered to be the best version on all these charts floating around?
>>
>>59019181
Because it's multiprocess, stable enough, gets updated quickly and it isn't botnet.
>>
>>59018626
Lightning is pretty good.

If 'old them3 restorer' stops working... I don't know....
I don't want to use Chrome, that cunt.

I use Firefox and I'd like to know if there are any good tutorials for umatrix.
I would like to block anything possible to block regarding google, facebook and other socials outside of their own fucking website.

Opera have everything I need
>adblock
>bookmark synchronization
>doesn't rape laptop battery
>free VPN
>supports chrome extensions
but most importantly...
>doesn't crash every 10 fucking minutes like chrome or fagfox
>>
>>59019693
Depends, do you use your web browser to browse the web? Firefox is pretty awful at browsing the web, even compared to Edge, and especially compared to chrome.
>>
I'm gonna copy this over from the sqt because I feel it fits better here: I'm finally trying to take back my privacy and ditch Chrome, but there are so many firefox versions and forks to choose from. What are some pros and cons of the notable ones?

Firefox never crashes for me, is it something related to how many extensions and script you have?

This is a protip, if someone can't use linking verbs or conjugate verbs properly while defending something they are either genuine idiots or shills

I use safari on my mac and I heard good things about the technology preview. Any opinions on switching to that or webkit nightly?

Move Icecat down to excellent and then it's perfect.

-Firefox is good in general.

-Waterfox is a tiny percent faster than Firefox, no real reason to use it over Firefox.

-Pale moon is basically Firefox but with the old UI, and it will continue to support current extensions even after Firefox switches to web extensions.

-Nightly is multi-process and gets faster updates than Firefox, but can be unstable at times.

That's about it. I don't think there is any other Firefox version/fork worth noting.

Is Iridium completely ungoogled? Also is it the same level of "cutting edge/unstable" as firefox nightly or more/less stable?
>>

It's basically ungoogled-chromium but with a different name.

IceCat is god tier and you all going to worship the god when Mozilla goes webextensions.
>>
>>59020951
IceCat is a great browser, but it isn't cutting edge, so it shouldn't be in god tier.
>>
I wanna give Vivaldi a try.
>>
>>59020971
I understand where the confusion comes, but is not just a fork.
https://directory.fsf.org/wiki/IceCat
>IceCat is not a straight fork of Firefox ESR; instead, it is a parallel effort that works closely with and re-bases in synchronization on the latest Firefox ESR as the upstream supplier, with patches merged upstream whenever possible; although it should be noted that additional security updates are customized to IceCat occasionally.

Are you a GNU damage control bot?
It's a fork of ESR that gets security updates. It is not cutting edge. It will never be cutting edge. Maybe in a few months when ESR gets upgraded to Firefox 52.

Stop defending it because there is also nothing wrong with IceCat itself. It is just not cutting edge.

I am disappointed though, I thought you really had a point about icecat being cutting edge but the fact that you think I edited the picture activates my almonds into believing I've been rused all along.

>To all you guys that use Firefox now, will you use it after the addon switch?
I don't see why people autisticly screech over this
We just won't have to make firefox specific versions while developing addons
Sure people who invested in the previous api will bitch about it like this guy who made all these tab management plugins but i don't get why more browser standardization is a bad thing.
>>
>>59022745
Some addons can't exist with the new API, that's what devs are concerned. Apparently current addons have access to more resources than what they will get with webextensions.

Just my 2 cents here.
