Out of curiousity, why a tracker?

On linux, a daw like LMMS works well enough for small tunes and is nicer than a tracker imo

haven't used a lot of trackers, but lmms gives you a "piano roll" style interface that makes it really easy to make chords and "draw" your melody.

not sure if trackers provide similar functionality

if you are willing to shell out cash though, renoise is the ultimate tracker for lignux. i hear bitwig has gotten really good though, but haven't tried it out.

Nothing. If you want to try Windows or Wine, I'd look at OpenMPT. It uses the native Windows UI, so it's not near as gaudy as the other ones.

OP, try OpenMPT. It's like MilkyTracker, only better (and more compatible with other tracker formats).
