I want to make some tunes for my shitty game.

What is the least shitty music tracker that respects my freedumbs and runs on GNU + Linux?
>>
MilkyTracker is pretty good. Supports pretty much everything.

/thread pretty much
>>
Out of curiousity, why a tracker?

On linux, a daw like LMMS works well enough for small tunes and is nicer than a tracker imo
>>
>>59008410
To expand on my post here is a list of selected music trackers

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_tracker#Selected_list_of_music_trackers
>>
>>59008459

I don't know the difference between a tracker and a DAW ;_;
>>
>>59008513
haven't used a lot of trackers, but lmms gives you a "piano roll" style interface that makes it really easy to make chords and "draw" your melody.

not sure if trackers provide similar functionality
>>
any idea on how to use milky tracker? link ?
>>
>>59008410
this

if you are willing to shell out cash though, renoise is the ultimate tracker for lignux. i hear bitwig has gotten really good though, but haven't tried it out.

nigga I just want to make some shitty beats

>tracker editors
>trackers

what the difference?
>>
>>59009967
One creates new tunes the other modifies them, but by now I am not sure.

>>trackers
>what the difference?
Nothing. If you want to try Windows or Wine, I'd look at OpenMPT. It uses the native Windows UI, so it's not near as gaudy as the other ones.

whoa, a tracker thread? neat!
OP, try OpenMPT. It's like MilkyTracker, only better (and more compatible with other tracker formats).
>>
might as well ask here, what is the best C++ library to play with audio?
>>
>>59010118
I just know of OpenAL, and is written in C.

Gameboy emulator with LSDJ
Wine with Famitracker
>>
>>59008383
OpenMPT with wine is pretty good
