I hope not, I don't want a processor associated with poor people in my computer
>>59006308
If AMD gives them a good deal then why not?
>>59006326
They already use AMD graphics though?
of course not, the power savings gains of Kaby lake were just way too much to ignore
Ryzen has low-voltage options on the map but nothing that compares with 15w for just about Intel 2500 performance
Intel is focusing on lowering the power of their quad core laptop CPUs soon too
>>59006336
AMD GPUs are fine, the drivers just suck
their CPUs are shit though
No, clearly Apple doesn't care about performance at all and wants battery life, given the Core M CPUs in their new MacBooks.
If anything switching to ARM CPUs is more likely, basically MacBooks with iPad CPUs.
There will be tiered macbooks the ones sold at best buy will have amd cpus
>>59006326
You will buy it anyway
>>59006372
>their CPUs are shit though
That's gonna change in about 2 weeks
>>59006308
>is apple going to use ryzen CPUs in their new Macs
No, for a very simple reason: Ryzen does not support Thunderbolt 3. Apple ecosystem is heavily dependent on Thunderbolt (tons of their peripherals use it).
If AMD supported latest Thunderbolt, I think they might have a chance. Apple clearly loves AMD.
>>59008454
>actually believing their marketing
they said the same thing about bulldozer LOL
Probably, in 2 or 3 years when they're outdated. The apple way.
>>59008497
yeah this is the correct answer. also, those ryzen cpus dont have integrated graphics. Macs require that at minimum
>>59008653
Keller didn't work on Bulldozer.
>>59006508
>Arm CPUs
So Tegra?
>>59006372
>drivers suck
When will this meme end?
I think anyone who spouts this has never owned an AMD card.
This comes from someone running a Nvidia gpu (albeit only due to quad monitor support)
As far as I know, only one graphics manufacturer (Nvidia) released a driver in the last couple of years that bricked cards.
>>59012892
>I am using an Nvidia card since AMD drivers do not support my use case
>AMD has great drivers
Pick one
>>59006308
yes, that's why Mac Pro hasn't been updated since 2013
>>59012892
He's right, I've owned and use AMD gpus for 6 years and from experince, yes, their drivers do suck balls, and the hardware also has an issue of overclocking my electric bill too
No, why would they? Intel offers better low-power chips, better mid-range quad-core chips, and better high-end, high-core chips. Why would they use AMD? AMD is okay for basically budget gaming PCs... Macs are not budget gaming PCs.

Can't Apple (or any mobo manufacturer) just use a separate controller? Only downside would be the inconvenience of it being separate instead of as part of the PCH.
>>59006326
Down with the bourgeoisie
>>59013539
my computer is not for showing off though
>>59006308
apple is going to switch to ARM
>>59008653
>they said the same thing about bulldozer LOL
they never said that. we knew from the hotchips representation that single core perf was abysmal before it got to the market.
>>59013877
Yes they can, TB3 is just PCIe 3.0 x4. There's nothing stopping them from slapping a controller on there, especially in a laptop, where these lanes would otherwise go to waste anyway.
>>59013877
Chances are higher that Apple would just order semi-custom APUs including the controllers they want. Apple loves SoCs, because it allows bigger batteries.
>>59014092
Apple jumped PPC wagon because of how inefficient RISC is, do you think they going to jump back on RISC and especially ARM?
>>59014972
but nowadays x86's are RISCs too. And in general everything is different
>>59015023
>Nowadays
if by nowadays you mean for over two decades, but there is still difference in how x86 and ARM performance, x86 is just way, way more polished turd than ARM will ever be.
>>59015057
But Apple does not need performance. They just need low temps and low power usage - and for both of these appliances ARM is superior. They deprecated Mac Pro for a reason.
>>59015068
if you lived under a rock and don't know what Intel and AMD is doing with low-powered CPUs, you would think that.
>>59006308
>is apple going to use ryzen CPUs in their new Macs?
If Intel doesn't have some kind of exclusive supplier contract with Apple, and if Apple ever decide to refresh the MBP, and if Ryzen is good and AMD offer a good price, they might use Ryzen.
But that's a lot of if-s.
>>59015092
intel just cancelled Atom
>>59006308
Well, word is Intel is building a MCM with a radeon chip for new Mac Pro so no, at least not yet.
>>59015110
no, they did not.but nice rumour spreading.
>>59015139
wikipedia says it's done
>>59006308
>new macs
implying apple cares about anything other than iOS
>>59013454
i agree
>>59012892
Agreed, its like a Toms Hardware comment, just parroted trope from 2008 over and over. Divers are good now, perf and heat are just as good as the comp if not better, on the cpu front as well if all the benches for Ryzen are true.
>>59008653
I'm wondering what kind of excuse Intel shills are going to drive on in about two weeks.
>>59018852
Oats and Squats?
>>59006308
Nope. Apple is very picky-and-choosy about the CPUs they use in their computers. Believe it or not, but since Ivy Bridge, Intel has been optimizing their mobile CPUs to meet Apple's specific power requirements and supported features and trickling those features onto everyone else on the market, including desktop SKUs.
Ryzen is very "simple" in its features and doesn't even have an integrated GPU, which Apple flat-out requires on their laptops and tablets. They might use a customized spin-off of Raven Ridge in the near future, but that might cost too much to develop for it to be worth the time and investment for AMD. I'd say the soonest we can expect AMD CPUs in Apple products is at least until Zen+.

>>59018852
AVX2 is the only instruction set that matters.
>>59019008
But their favorite Intel CPU G4560 doesn't have that?
>>59006372
>Drivers suck
It's not a problem on a Mac though since they're cucked to OpenGL 4.1 and Metal.
>>59019036
You think they actually know that?
