To come after regular people for piracy would probably end up costing more in legal/police fees than the actual fines or software/media would be worth

it isnt illegal against the state or federal law

so if you do pirate your isp isnt going to do anything

but there is companies who go to artists and game studios and tell them they will enforce their copyright

so they hunt you down and email your ISP

then your ISP has to legall forward that to your adress

if you dont comply they will cut off your service or be held liable


my friend got one once and he got a email from his isp and he had to go to court in a personal trial vs him and the copyright holders

he got charged $120 fine for a movie
