Try to defend this
>>58987062
you can play doom on it.

There is no defense. TI has a monopoly because so many schools, exam boards, etc specify that X model of calculator is the only acceptable one. The thing probably costs something like ten bucks to make and could be profitably sold for twenty, but why do that when people are forced to buy your product and not someone else's?

When every american high school needs a class set of those, you've got yourself a killing to make.
>graphing calculators
>In the current year
But why tho
>>58987390
Because smartphones would be too easy to use for cheating and TI has a monopoly on standardized testing. I remember getting Wolfram Alpha on my iPod Touch for 99 cents, and it being far more useful for Calculus than the hand-me-down TI-83+ I was forced to use, but they refused to let students use anything but TI-83/83+/84 calculators.

Steal them from your class at the end of the year on your senior year so in college you don't have to buy one.

A smartphone would give you the answer of certain tasks directly.
Also, graphing calculators are pretty comfy. Those buttons are better than any bullshit touchscreen.
>tfw I spent only 30 $ on a Casio graphing calculator and it has a better GUI
>tfw I installed the OS of the next model, essentially gaining a 150 $ priced calculator for only 30 $
LMAO at TI cucks.
>>58987261
that's not saying too much
you can get doom working on virtually anything
Saw one of those at a thrift store last week for $4.99, was thinking about getting it because I know I could dump it on eBay for $40-50 without even breaking a sweat but I'm not paying eBay fees so fuck that. Could dump it on craigslist for about the same price I suppose.

This is a lie.
There's HPs and casios on the graphing calculator approved list for the major standardized tests like SAT and ACT
