only a retard would spend 3 hours learning this shit instead of downloading itunes and having 99% of the same features

you're like those faggots who buy shit so their wires don't touch the floor; nothing that you do matters, you're pathetic, the only value you get out of it is telling others about it and feeling smug while everyone sees you as the fucking retard that you are

you probably know single language so you dont understand
but theres always point where you have abandon just learning grammar and enlarging vocabulary.. you need to get exposed and see how it all fits

you can literally learn language from fairy tales for toddlers, or from porn with stories... doesnt matter, only thing that matters is that you are exposed to the language

Right, and I've learned Japanese from watching my subtitled animu.

What can actually work is to watch some work in its native language, i.e. a French movie in French and with French subtitles in case you don't know how a word is spelled. But that only makes sense after you've gained some fundamental understanding of the language.

Watching foreign dubs or translated subs (whichever you're doing there) is retarded.

>Watching foreign dubs or translated subs (whichever you're doing there) is retarded.
its dubbed in german too
and its working fine, dont worry about details weaboo
the loss of some native feel to the phrases is offset by me actually knowing the dialogs very well which helps immensely. And also me being interested in it while it being relatively easy on the complexity of dialogs

stick to mpv, thats your job here
and try it again with anime, after all its native language there, it should be all that matters

Why do the sharpening shaders have so high default value!
For movies with lot of noises I use these on madVR:
Crispen edges 0.1
LumaSharpen 0.30,
AdaptiveSharpen 0.1

But for clean sources, I use:
Crispen edges 0.3
LumaSharpen 0.45
AdaptiveSharpen 0.3
>>
AdaptiveSharpen with value > 0.5 is just an oil painting filter!
I begin to understand why people hate sharpening so much.

maybe you should see exchanges involving sarcasm more often
a quite common retort to someone being sarcastic is to react to it as if they are serious, continuing within the sarcasm spirit
that usually put them on the defensive as they struggle now desperately to explain that they were not being serious initially

eg. scene from archer

       --sub-gauss=<0.0-3.0>
Apply Gaussian blur to image subtitles (default: 0). This can help to make pixelated DVD/Vobsubs look nicer. A value other than 0 also
switches to software subtitle scaling. Might be slow.

NOTE:
Never applied to text subtitles.

--sub-gray
Convert image subtitles to grayscale. Can help to make yellow DVD/Vobsubs look nicer.

NOTE:
Never applied to text subtitles

Maybe if you found 1 ("one" (I)) other person who could reproduce this somebody would belive that this isnt a user error.

But the developers can not fix a bug that only you have.

Simply use ogmmerge to create an ogm file from an avi and then open it with mpv. Use the mouse to drag the seek bar and this problem will occur.

That's not even the same issue. I compiled and installed the older version of ffmpeg and mpv but it didn't fix the issue. Niether did the --no-correct-pts command line argument.

Additionally, using a libmpv based media player such as Bomi this issue is not reproducable. It is purely an issue with mpv player itself.

The fact remains that mpv player has this problem whereas libmpv based players do not. It is clearly doing something wrong. in regards to the way it handles dragging the seek bar.

Windows 7 Chrome user.
Is there any way to open videos via MPV from Chrome, like Firefox users can?

Since browsers have those FlashGot extensions and shit for recognizing and downloading videos from the web,
why can't MPV connect with the extensions when they create a list of downloadable video formats on a page, and just download it straight to MPV as cache?

Or does this actually exist and i'm not aware of it?

tested the file with the most crippling codec for my computer, that right there is the only reason I would consider mpv is if it handled it significantly better, but it doesn't.

I on the overall I believe I mixed up the mpv and mpc hc numbers, but you are talking 1% much rather have a well built program with a good ui then mpv till that number is significantly bigger.

Iv vlc was my go to, I would hit mpv or mpchc, possibly pot player, as its ui is more comfortable going from vlc to something new, but as it stands

pot - long youtube video player
vlc - if nothing else will play it this will
mpchc - my go to player for a reason
mpv - a curiosity I keep an eye on to see if it ever breaks away and becomes great

Is there a way to get mpv to show all the files it plays in the windows recent files section? This is one of the only features I miss from mpc-hc. Right now it only adds a file to that list if you open the file through windows explorer.

OK! I give up.

I need to ask you guys what is this NGU algorithm, and what is so special about mpv.

I have been googling the shit out of every term unknown by me, and I kinda figured out that you are upscaling anime using neural networks, but I still have questions:

-Do this kind of algorithms just add onto mpv? do you execute the algorithm on the computer at play time, or you pre-render a new video file, or do you execute this on a server?

-How get? Want use. So bad. Anime.

I've watched 2 movies, one with default settings, one with WaitTime 2, Lookahead 2, both were -fast 4-, none of them looped and the moment when it switches from fast to normal feels better as it is more transparent now, with less pause between them.

Previously it looped 1 or 2 scenes per movie.

Thanks!

Literally the only active fansubber using linked mkvs is kuchikirukia, who is also a massive faggot who does shit like interpolating DVDs to 60 fps.
>>
What are the best interpolation settings? I tried tscale=oversample and it was a juddery mess, I set it back to mitchell and it looks better but still not great compared to some TVs built in interpolation.

Just tried it, if you mean this:

https://github.com/alexjc/neural-enhance

It gives a sorta blurry result for 2x, an acceptable result, but nothing you wouldn't get using
>filters
However, x4 scaling yields a very noisy result, with nothing exceptional.
>>
>>59023285

Plus, 9GB of RAM usage.
>>
why do people download shitty resolution and upscale?
>>
>>59023353
To avoid data caps if you live in a shit country I suppose
>>

Neural scalers fail more than any linear ones.
Hope madshi will finally understand and spends his time on better things.

>>59023315
It's a dummy python mess. Madshi worked more than 6 months on his algorithm so don't expect to get similar results with a silly python program.
It's currently faster than nnedi3 but it's still failing more.

wm4, if you're here, how do you feel about Plex selling binarios of mpv, despite mpv.dll not being fully LGPL. Or is it?
>>
>>59023425
It's only useful on windows xp, dude!
>>
>>59023535

Really? Even if I disable compositing on Windows 7?
>>
>>59023566
Why do you want to disable composition?
However windows 7 will be deprecated soon so you should switch to win10 or a linux distribution. ;)
>>
>>59023627

Because I use Windows 7 classic mode.

Also, I'll use Linux when ASS renders properly in the wayland vo.
>>
>>59023376

So, neural scalers are not to use, unless you are google.

So, what do you people use to upscale animu on play time? Is that a feature of mpv?
>>
>>59023376
nnedi3 is also a neural network upscaler. the latest iteration of ngu pixart seems to beat nnedi3 now, at a faster speed.

it's true that neural networks can sometimes fail to produce good results, but nnedi3 has proven to be quite reliable.

Bomi is godlike
>>59009162
I mean to be fair, MPV should be able to play all files flawlessly.. sure he converted it, but still.
>>

whats with the "long youtube video player"?
you can play youtube videos with 3dyd on mpc-hc you know that right?
>>
that neural scaler linked early on in that thread seems pretty cool.
>>
>>58988852
hes right desu. its sad how people take this board to just argue over useless shit
>>
>>59019107
Anime is cartoons you know...
>>
>>59024945
pot loads up a youtube video, downloads the whole thing/caches the whole thing, and then when its done playing it gets rid of it.

Its my ideal 2+ hour long youtube video player.
