I'd buy a new thinkpad X series if it had a GPU. GPU = gayming in current year. I just want a laptop on which I can test my CUDA.

Older thinkpads were good sturdy machines.
New (and recent) ones are overpriced and lack features that used to be there in previous gen.
The only advantage I can find to recent thinkpads is that a lot of linux dev are still using thinkpads so a thinkpad user is still likelier to be spoonfed during troubleshooting.
I still use a thinkpad x201 (and 2013 dell latitude for backup) and I think it's wiser to wait for CPU with 10nm transistors to upgrade, but the current state of hardware is worrying me.
