Laptop is broken. Well, HDD needs replacing but the technician would have to take my current one when he replaces it so that ain't happening.
I will buy a cheap desktop computer, probably a 1TB Dell Inspiron.

just buy a new HDD and replace it yourself?
Most laptops make replacing the hard-drive piss easy. Just unscrew a screw, take off the cover, slip out the old one, slip a new one in.
And you can connect the old hard drive to a computer using a normal SATA connection and standard power connector if you need to do so to get the data off. Or if you just want an unreliable hard-drive to store porn on.

Keyboard doesn't work either, so i have a wireless keyboard and mouse constantly on top of or around my laptop.
Also the hard drive needs to be replaced so i may as well get a whole new machine. I dont have a desktop right now so I'll probably get one of those.

Yeah but it's gonna be going anyway. I will recover all files (SATA to USB) but need good ideas for new programs, e.g. Deluge, CCleaner..

>>What software shall I install right at the beginning?
CCleaner plus ccenhancer
Unchecky
Potplayer
Aimp
utorrent 2.2.1
notepad ++
vlc
chrome plus ublock origin, scriptsafe and privacybadger
>>Suggest shit I should download for my new computer.
no games
Also build your own pc. You don't need to spend a lot or buy prebuild shit.

Hey man thanks, good post. I don't play PC games other than the Walking Dead and Rocket League anyway. More of a console gamer for several reasons.
Also I'm not going to build my PC
>muh cheaper
>muh easy to learn to do
I'm too lazy and don't really care all that much. I just want a home office at the moment.

Where do you live? Many pc stores have prebuilt pc's themselves instead of only a Dell. For example Alternate it Europe.

wtf is all this useless shit
ninite.com
Pick and choose.
Build a PC, it's dead simple. Don't even use the lazy excuse, it takes like 10 minutes. You'll save some money and get better and more reliable parts.

London my chum.
>>58985764
I really cannot be fucked to do it m8
>>58986497
Then fuck yourself, lazy piece of shit. Settle for shit.
>>58986539
Cheers; will do. I respectfully declined and now you're butthurt that not everyone shares your PC building hobby. Autism in action, folks.
>>58986497
Look, if you're going to buy a prebuilt, you're gonna want a good one. Fuck cheaply built Inspirons, go for a second hand/brand new Dell Optiplex instead
>>58987317
Yeah that's a good point. I'm going to try to spend at least £1000, so i can keep this desktop for at least 7 years, hopefully 10. I'll be changing parts for more modern ones as the years go by.
>>58986497
dont buy prebuilt
even if you are lazy just buy all the parts and take it to a computer shop for them to build. most shops will build it for you for $30-$50
VLC
Windows 7
>>58988254
That's actually a great solution, thanks anon
>>58988254
Many shops have their own prebuilts too. Just the same old components you can buy yourself, but often they use unbranded corsair cases or something similar.
Prebuilts don't have to suck, but many of the ones you can get from big box electronics stores do. Like those funky Asus ones with _two_ external power bricks. Computers where opening the side panel voids the warranty.

I would love to see that statistics of all the Dells that have anything wrong with them vs dumb kids who cause horrible expensive problems slapping together components.
