>Windows easily has the highest market share
>It is estimated that over half of Windows worldwide is pirated
So /g/, why is the DRM on Windows still so broken when MS could easily fix it?
Its simple, they WANT people to keep pirating Windows
If Windows somehow became unpiratable, there goes over half of their marketshare
MS will never crack down on Windows piracy because they care more about marketshare than profit from sales themself
Why?
With sales you just get money
But with marketshare you get control, you influence all software, the less computers are running another OS, the better for MS

You just realized that?

Congratulations.
You took your first step towards understanding why Hitler was right.
The more you understand this shit, the more jaded you will become though.

what
>>58980192
Linux is so shit that people don't install it even though it's "Free".
>>58980192
Even if all private customers pirate it, corporations will still have to buy it. Adobe and others does the same.

kys, that is so fucking retarded

Found the casual. Enjoying Facebook? Got any good maymays?

If children would have to pay for their OS, they would stop using it.
But now they grow up with and dependent on Windows, so when they join the workforce, they only know Microsoft products.

When was the last time you saw a kid paying for anything? Kids don't have any money. They use whatever they manage to get out of their parents, and they generally don't care about finances in doing so, they just "want" a thing without considering anything else.
No one knows how to use anything else and people will complain that their shitty software doesnt run on linux.
They will crack down on DRM eventually as they are supposedly planning a free version of windows.
>>58981660
The only reason their shitty software doesn't run on Linux is because no one devs for Linux
But if MS lost a lot of marketshare to Linux then that would change
Again, its not about the sales, its about control
>>58981677
id doubt it
it would take year or two to port and hire support staff and such. Its a big undertaking and you wont see it until you see a single linux os hit about 10-15%.
Also a lot of people use old software and hardware with no hope of updates or being ported.
Microsoft doesn't make its money from end-user consumers, they make it from deals with computer manufacturers and businesses. Losing a few million bucks from people who actually would buy Windows if they couldn't pirate it is better than having them learn how easy it would be to move to Linux.
