I've got something I'd like to release online, but I don't want it to come back to me. Nothing illegal, just something I might not want some people to find out about.

Here's what I thought I'd do:

1.) Rent raspberry pi server from TPB guys, pay using bitcoins so it can't be traced back to me.

2.) Upload these files to the server, then seed on a public tracker

3.) wait until enough people have shared and are seeding the file, then disconnect from the swarm and kill the server

Does this sound about right?

>I know what JSON does but why would I ever need to use it?
JSON doesn't "do" anything. It's just a data format.

It's an acronym for JavaScript Object Notation. It's as widely used as it is because you can communicate between the client and the server directly in JSON so you don't need to change formats (as was done in yonder years with XML).

Because that anon thinks we're trying to recommend some underpowered desktop. My intention with recommending the i3-6100/rx460 build was to keep the desktop cheap enough to also afford a decent laptop/Chromebook. Enough for school.

All up to you and your needs in the end. Do you need a more powerful desktop or a powerful laptop? $900 can get you a great desktop but no laptop. And vice versa.

What does "Core Data" mean in iOS development?
>>
>>58962684
LineageOS *is* CyanogenMod. They just had to rename it because the Cyanogen brand name was owned by Cyanogen Inc, which went bankrupt - and thus that name is an asset that'll get sold off in liquidation. The open-source ROM is the same as it ever was, they just had to rebrand it and set up new infrastructure.

I don't think they even changed the version numbers, so its basically CM 14.1.

>>58962795
a.) should be more efficient if you expect to do more than one reverse lookup. b.) should be more efficient if you don't. If you're in case a.) you might consider just keeping two copies around and updating both whenever you insert or delete. Cause remember the whole point of bothering with a hash map is to get fast lookups.

>what else you want to hardlink?
Directories, presumably. You can't (or at least shouldn't) do that since it lets you create cycles in the directory tree (making it no longer a tree..) which can cause things that try to traverse the directory structure to get into infinite loops.

https://developer.apple.com/library/content/documentation/Cocoa/Conceptual/CoreData/index.html?utm_source=iosstash.io

tl;dr: core data is the label for the framework containing their database stuff, toolchain management, things like that. Any time you save user data in an iOS app you're generally using Core Data on the back end. Also hooks into their iCloud stuff more or less seamlessly so things like user settings get synced--that's Core Data

>>58963841

The Linux kernel is written in C.

The C language can be compiled to lots of architectures, like x86, x64, ARM, MIPS, and lots more.

To compile is to transform the code in commands the machine can understand (machine code).

So you just have to specify which architecture you are targeting and that's it! The compiler will output machine code accordingly (be it x86, ARM or anything else).

This might be a weird one. I'm trying to do some research for a project of mine and I can't figure out what a certain concept might be called.

It involves pic related where the squares might just be considered objects in an array and the arrows are just links to other objects in the array. I'm trying to make sure that ever array is accessible through a sort of network, but I don't know what this kind of idea is called to look up more information about implementations and algorithms. Any help would be much appreciated.

If you're more curious about why I'm doing this, it's to create a sort of generated hub world for a game. I'm trying to make sure that every area on the hub would be accessible if traveled while making sure it's not just a 1-1 connection, instead it would be closer to pic related.

If I have an i7-6700k and an r9 390 both overclocked along with 3 hard drives, a usb powered Fiio E10k dac/amp, a closed loop watercooler and a wifi card, would a 600w silver power supply cover all that?

I have a bronze 850w psu right now because I was thinking about running two 390s in crossfire but changed my mind down the road. Also thinking about upgrading to a 1070 when Vega hits the market.

I hope some /g/ent can help because I'm about to start indiscriminately breaking shit.

I have a computer that I need to output to a VGA-only display, but the computer only has DVI-D and HDMI outputs. I bought an HDMI to VGA adapter and it arrived yesterday, so I installed it and - nothing. I've since tested the adapter with other computers and it works without any issues, and I've tested the HDMI output with an HDMI-compatible display and that works as well, so why would specifically that adapter not work with that computer?

>Make yourself feel guilty about not saving the money.
>Think about how it really should be in savings in case your car breaks down, or in a mutual fund for your retirement.

I save the vast majority of my money. I am a very frugal person.
Just every once in a while, maybe once every 6 months or so, I feel like splurging on something.

I have an IRA and I'm at the legal limit for contributions this year.
I have more than enough in savings for any rainy-day event. My car could explode and I could just buy a new one.

I just spend $100 or $150 every once in a while and it soothes my consumerist whore heart.

There's tens of thousands of guides online for dual-booting any flavor of Linux with Windows 10.

Just a quick mock-up I did for what I was thinking:

Class MultiNode {
ArrayList<MultiNode> adjacentNodes;

public MultiNode(MultiNode parent) {
adjancentNodes = new ArrayList<MultiNode>();
adjacentNodes.add(parent);
}
public MultiNode() {
adjacentNodes = new ArrayList<MultiNode>();
}
public void addNeighbor() {
adjacentNodes.add(new MultiNode(this));
}
public MultiNode getNode(int num) {
return adjacentNodes.get(num);
}
public int adjacentCount() {
return adjacentNodes.size();
}
}

Obviously you'd add more fields/methods based on what kind of data you want to keep in there.

I have Task Manager up 24/7, as soon as I start up the system. I saw it was using about 6gb of RAM. So while RuneScape's coding is shit, it wasn't using that much. I just suspect somewhere in the coding it causes problem for the rest of the computer. Thinking it might need more than it needs. That or Chrome sense Chrome is shit too.

Where is a good website to learn about electronics repair with things featuring circuit boards, like not necessarily computers but for example DJ controllers, CD players, microwaves etc. I'm looking for more than just the basic that you get from electricity and magnetism, i'd love to see some guides or tutorials from people who actually do it

New computer, downloading drivers now, is there a preferred order to installing them?

There really shouldn't be. Though I'd install Network and Video drivers first to get the ones that would be huge fucking deals if they didn't work out of the way first.

Bought a new IPS screen to use with my LED monitor using winblows 10.

Can I adjust color profile individually? When I get to the windows color settings only the new monitor shows up but I cant seem to calibrate the second one.

If the Ryzen architecture is only 128-bit SSE instruction set and only capable of 2 AVX instructions per clock, while Intel since icy bridge is capable of 3, then how is it that in most leaked benchmarks it has significantly better scores despite these shortcomings? What is AMD's "special sauce"? Is it just having a larger L2 cache or is it something to do with branch prediction?

Trying to compare specs between intel and AMD processors is inherently a waste of time. There are so many different factors that impact how quickly they process different types of threads.

>>
>>58969615
you can switch to port 80 or use http instead but these fucking suck for many reasons
if they're just blocking .torrent files, you can also use magnet links or download torrent files as .txt files if the tracker/indexer supports it
otherwise, a VPN is your only real option

mpv.conf is the config file.

%appdata% is some windows specific garbo.
>>
>>58969789
Well I remember going into %appdata% and changing the default volume there clearly. I also literally copied and pasted my old appdata folder so I dunno why it won't work now.

I just make a mpv.conf in the .exe folder or inside some lua-settings mumbo jumbo folder then?

Been thinking of buying this server for the following, mumble server, gitlab server, nextcloud server and maybe a starbound game server - all would be hosted through a VPN my main question is how much electricity would this use per year (UK, roughly)

With a 150W power supply running under full load (worst case scenario) 24/7 all year you should expect something like 1,3MWh of energy used every year.
>>
>>58969701
You could either use a cheap seedbox or try tribler
>>
>>58969879
ok so 1300 kWh x 0.20 (most expensive per kWh tarriff in the uk) £260 per year -- that seems a bit much should I consider making a raspi cluster since they're £5 a year to run
>>
>>58969920
Each rbpi will cost you something around 110kWh a year (recommended power supply is something like 13W).

VPSes exist for a reason anon, consider purchasing one for your more intensive tasks and use the rbpi for the shit you don't care about.

My new monitor doesnt look as good under Linux as it does under windows.
The contrast is way too hard.
Turning down contrast in the monitor settings doesn't do shit.
Is there a programm that can fix this? running unity.
>>
>>58970025
Forgot to add:
It's a monitor with a 3000:1 Contrast ratio. I do a lot of image work on it and it has a "low blacks" setting.
When I switch it to normal, it looks normal like before.
The issue is just I lose detail when editing photos.

I plan buying a new laptop and I am really interested in the new Dell XPS 15 9560 (http://www.dell.com/us/business/p/xps-15-9560-laptop/pd?oc=cax15w10p7s1610&model_id=xps-15-9560-laptop).

- Is there a better alternative for that performance/price ratio ?

- How hard is it to put in more RAM ?

- This laptop is shipped with Windows 10 installed on it. Is the warranty voided if I plan to wipe the SSD and install something else instead ? If so, what can I do if I want to get rid of Windows but still want to be covered by the warranty if anything bad happens ? Like cloning the Windows partition and keeping it somewhere safe and back it up when needed ?

- Is it easily Hackintoshable ? I would like to work on a "mainstream OS" (and that's not Windows) without having to buy an MBP for double the price and half the performance.

Thanks

OK I'm an idiot and I managed to fuck up my authui.dll in windows7 in my system32
So my login screen does not work anymore, it's completely black but my cursor is there and works, I'm also not able to type in my password.
It's the same in safe mode.
Is there a way of fixing this without using recovery via USB?

only concern is the
 attrib +r +h C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
which makes it read-only and hidden, shouldn't be any need for that

Yes, although if you can just send windows back to a restore point, that would probably be easiest
