If you put more power into the battery it will heat up more.

Fast charge batteries do not have a higher voltage put into them, it is just a higher voltage that is delivered to the phone which is still converted into the 4.4V that is used to charge the battery, the phone heats up more because of the DC to DC conversion at higher power in the charging circuit, that part does change by having the higher amperage come from the charger instead, but the battery will heat up just as much.

How were they measuring the relative temperature change in that table? There is literally no data on their testing methodology. Some of those phones you can just take the back off and point an infrared thermometer directly at the battery, others you can't. Did they just measure the temperature change on the back of the device? Then you have the difference of some devices trying to use the shell as a heatsink while others do not, or how close the charging circuit is to case.

I'm sorry, but any claims that it is better for the battery are absolute baloney.

It's also why the phone doesn't get too hot, its basically regular charging a couple of batteries in close proximity so yeah it will be warmer than one battery but the multiple cells will be similar temps so overall temp will be only a bit above completely normal charging.

The battery is receiving 9v, the phone is not decreasing the voltage. Not only would that be asinine from an efficiency standpoint, but the higher the v delta, the faster it will charge, so long as the phones voltage regulation can handle it. All of the regulation is taken care of in the wall charger, the phone sends signals over the data pins to tell the charger to give it 9 or 5 volts depending on the temperature of the phone, and the wattage does not change.

Li-Po batteries do not actually have a charge rate that can cause damage to the battery. The chip in the battery limits throughput to manage heat but lithium is very adaptable to flow. It can be charged up and dropped real low without any issues, which is what makes it desirable as a capacitor, albeit expensive.
Fast charging doesn't harm Li-Po/ion batteries, only heat and charging doesn't get hot enough to do damage. Also I have definitely had an iPhone get just as toasty as my S7E while charging/in use and so really if that much heat harms the battery then it's happening anyways.

No it's fucking not.
I have fucking quick charge batteries here. They have a set charge voltage that is below 5V, so even your normal charging is stepped down.

The reason they use 9V for quick charge instead of higher amperage is because you can move more power across the same line by increasing the voltage more than by increasing the amperage.
OnePlus comes with a special USB cable to ensure it doesn't burn out the wires by running the higher amperage through it, with quickcharge you can use any old USB cable because they increase the voltage instead.
The battery still needs the correct voltage delivered to it though.
