Get a reputation on upwork, codementor, and any of the other 5 million freelance sites. Once you do a small project for a client, get away from the freelance site because they have heavy fees. Work directly with the client once they trust you. Rinse and repeat with every new client. Eventually you will get passed around by word of mouth. JPEG should be pronounced jay-peg because it's the most natural way to pronounce and is the way most native English speakers would pronounce it. Likewise, pronouncing gif with a hard g as in green is more correct as it is the way most English speakers would pronounce it. Have some fun by checking the ratio of hard g sounds vs soft g sounds in words based on where the g occurs in the word. (spoiler: when the g comes at the beginning of the word, it is overwhelmingly a hard g as is garden).

Ultimately, the pronunciation of gif isn't that important as neither way is ambiguous as to what the speaker means. There aren't any common homophones for two ways, so it's fine. However, all the autists who sperg out over the inventor intending it to be a soft g (which he did because he thought it was funny) are idiots.
