India have made unsubsidised solar cheaper than any power source in their country.

They will be a superpower by 2030.
>>
Good for them! Super power by 2030? Not so sure about that.
>>
>>58936037

They will never be a superpower until they learn that poo belongs in the loo.

i figured it out guys.

http://www.drugsense.org/cms/wodclock

let's make all drugs legal, and apply a tax to sales.

with the saved money and profit we could invest in science and energy technology, and healthcare for addicts.

with this killer strategy, that I call "not doing the dumb thing, instead do the smart thing", a new age of prosper will begin.

i should be president, right?
>>
>>58936442
Because it's worthless except for funneling government subsidy.

Maybe because solar and wind are a pipe dream. We will never escape the hydrocarbon unless something drastically different form of energy appears.

Stop pushing this meme. Renewable is just another name for gibmedats for white people who spend all the government-funded money and eventually the company goes under.

It's not as profitable as oil and coal. The United States is largely centered on profit above all else.
>>
>>58936037
India also pays less for the workers in production, design, etc.
They live on land that has greater solar radiation than many other developed parts of the world, making solar produce more power as well

they will eventually use the solar panels as loos

What's the downfall of using a Solar Panel? Of course there's things like having power at night can't be guaranteed but I mean more for the land. You are stopping this area from getting the sun it used to get so it will lose its health.

Anything else?

Non sequitur.

>Maybe because solar and wind are a pipe dream.
Ignorant.

>>58939546
Solar cells do not have infinite lifespan: They degrade slowly. Typically you will get 20-25 years of useful life, but my info might be dated.

Also: Some countries are very sunny (Spain!), and some are not. Solar may not be viable for places like Britain.
>>
>>58936490
Seems to be the opposite way round in Straya.

>RECENT blackouts and electricity problems have highlighted the cold, hard economics of power supply in Australia.
>South Australians were left to swelter on a 42C day last week when the electricity of more than 90,000 residents was cut off because there was not enough power available.
>What drew even more outrage was learning that a gas-fired power plant located 20km from the centre of Adelaide sat idle while the state was dying for extra electricity.
>The reason why Pelican Point, one of the SA’s newest and most efficient gas-fired generators, chose not to offer its electricity appears to be simple: money.
>The increasing use of renewables has changed the electricity market and is throwing up new challenges that Australians will have to address.
>>
>>58936037
>cheaper than any power source in their country
>any power source in their country
>in their country
Not surprising when over half the country runs on macerated cow shit.
>>
>>58938654
In the Netherlands where there is relatively little sun, houses can be off the grid fully with only solar panels and a big battery. It's not a pipe dream. It's not the future. It's fucking now. It's happening and it's going to kill the oil industry slowly. The only issue is big cargo ships and airplanes. Kind of hard to make those work on renewables.
>>
In Finland where it's dark half the year, solar is still viable. Why not USA with your vast deserts?
>>
>indians can't tell the difference between solar and photovoltaic panels
*laughing emoji*
>>
>>58939778
You're fine to use solar in UK. There is a ton of plant matter that thrives, indicating that there is a decent amount of sunlight that gets through. Sure, you might need more panels, but so long as there are plants there is potential for solar.

Solar is not viable in Finland. It's not even viable in the Middle East.
>>
This is a shitty thread
>>
>>58936037
When will they harness the power of their biomass?
>>
India is a damn shame. If they could purge all muslims and perhaps lower their population to 300-500 million they would have much better odds of building the country up. China is in a similar bind. If they didn't have help from the Russians who knows how backward they would be currently.
>>
>>58936442
Because states where it could benefit greatly, IE the empty flyover states, want to keep their coal/oil business going instead. States that do want it, the liberal coasts, have too much rain/cloud to make full use of it.
>>
>>58942780
Its extremely viable near the equator but also in the middle east. I heard political stability is the actual problem.
>>
>>58936442
>>58942983
Solar and Wind are big industries in the USA. Mostly due to subsidy and not merit though. You'll find Wind turbines across much of the midwest which is solid republican/right wing in among the soy and corn fields. Solar is all over the place and has been put in use for heating pools to other things for decades. Florida for example most of the houses have a pool which in turn has solar heating for said pool as well. USA also has Hydro all over the place. Most people that have issues with Solar and Wind primarily have issues over the subsidy and hype over it. It shouldn't be forced but should come into it's own if and when it's ready. People look at things negatively that would be considered cheating.
>>
>>58942774
Does the US rely on nuclear that much? I was under the impression you guys mostly went for coal.
>>
>>58936072
But then someone has to clean the loo and become an untouchable D:
>>
>>58943420
We're about 20% nuclear. It can't throttle like fossil fuels.
>>
>>58936037
How have they made it cheaper? It's the same panels, right?
>>
>>58936637
>can't control where taxes go
they go to the gubbermint, and the money saved from drug busts and imprisoning people can go towards funding energy sources which are least harmful.
or shift from capitalism and socialism and fix the whole starving and homeless population problem.

but the war on drugs is a multi trillion dollar industry that gives the worst people in the world the most power.

so yeah, good luck getting rid of them, sadly life isn't a fairy tale with a happy ending.
>>
>>58939546
the production and shipping of solar panels are usualy worse than just using oil.
(you need fossil fuels to gather the raw materials then to ship them, then to be manufactured then to transport them)
>>
>>58940871
there's too much rain and fog and cloudy days in the cUK country.
