Pentium 100 MHz
16(?) MB RAM
Some Sound Blaster 16 clone that had a fugly cyan VGA UI for tweaking settings and making annoying noises.

First computer in the house, ~199something - only remember it was MS-DOS, mainly for my dad's work stuff
First shared computer with big brother, ~2002-2003 - prebuilt, no idea on the original specs, started out with Windows ME, upgraded many many times, brother still uses the Antec Sonata Piano Black case
First own computer, 2007 - Custom, don't remember the original specs apart from the ALiveXFire-eSATA2 motherboard and ugly as sin NZXT Apollo case

First one was a Pentium 133 with windows 98, two hard drives about 10 gig each, motherboard had parallel PCI and ISA.
Can't remember more than that since the dude died years ago by electrical failure.

I still have the two disks and some peripherials tho.

My first very own computer was an acer aspire one, one of the later models with windows xp.
120 gigs sata disk, 1.5 GB ram, probably a celeron? I forgot. It died last summer by electrical discharge from a shitty charger. Shit i was about to install San Andreas on that thing. It went out with a bang.

My first computer...

Ever? As in any computer at all?

I suppose it was a programmable calculator which was given to me to take to school with me in kindergarten in 1989. I have no idea which brand or maker it was other than it resembled this HP 12c programmable calculator. I know it had similar functions.

This type of calculator is a computer.

A Compaq Presario

It had a Pentium 3, like 64 or 128 RAM and a 13 GB hard drive. Even Counter Strike ran like shit. It was already preowned and died shortly after I got it.

Then I got a Pentium 4 524 @3.06 Ghz, 256 RAM I upgraded to 1 GB, 80 GB HDD and a GeForce 6200. That was more decent.
>>
First I used was some custom built one from some computer place near Northampton MA. It had a 200MHz Pentium, 32MB of RAM, a 2GB hard drive, an ISA SB16, and some S3 card. It lives in in a half completed state on my other desk. My first that I owned was a CTX EzBook 700E. It died a decade ago, and I bought another one to fuck around with last year, and had the pleasant surprise of finding that I saved the hard drive from my old one.

Well, it wasn't mine, as I was 8 or 9 at the time, but the first computer we had at home was some prebuilt that had an 486 on it. Not entirely sure which one, but going by year and frequency it ran at it could've been i486SX2. I don't remember any other specs. One day when my father came back from work he found me in the living room surrounded by the parts of said computer. I was "making it better". Father was not amused.
All in all good times tho.

My first PC was a Celeron Tualatin 800MHz with like 2 weeks of use. The fucking idiot who bought it put in like 512MB of RAM and a Voodoo 5 5500 and was underwhelmed by it's performance compared to the money he spent. No, I don't know why it was either, but my father's technician friend was so fucking confused when he saw it that he didn't even want it around and sold it to us for about 700U$S, and at the time all of this would've been going for almost 1300U$S in my country. My first personal PC was the same one, but with a CPU upgrade to a Pentium 3 1.2GHz I believe, and the Voodoo changed for an ATI Rage 128 MAXX that performed about the same but had more compatibility because it was an actual OpenGL GPU and not the bastardized GLide that Voodoos had.

We had a ZX Spectrum Argentinean or Brazilian clone before that but it barely got any use because we couldn't get any games in this shithole and the internet wasn't a thing in my country.

Compaq Presario

Windows 98

It was the first PC my family bought, back sometime in 2000. I was probably 9 at the time. I knew about computers and my dad always brought in some laptop from work that I used to mess around with, but the Compaq was our (my) first PC.

Before that I remember messing around with a computer that a neighbor had a few years prior. Remember playing Prince of Persia a lot on that thing. I wish I knew what kind of machine it was, that was sometime in '94 or '95.

Amiga 1200 in the early 90s (was 6 I think), hand me down from my spoiled cousin. I ended up being the only one using it, and I used it till like 2003 when we got some Celeron based HP POS that ran like shit but had a demo of a some First Person space fighting game preinstalled on it.

I grew up in a low-class area so I rarely touched computers when I was growing up, I did end up playing Runescape in some youth center in town during the early 2000's.
In 2007 I had saved up enough money, even managed to get some tax cuts through my uncle and bought the black macbook.
That machine was fucking perfect.

Though, I really hate Apple now.

Frankly I didn't mean it that it wasn't possible otherwise - just that the stuff I had was pretty crappy for that time - and rather slow. So that extra RAM really helped keep stuff going without too much slowness in Windows 95.

this 486-clone shitbox was my first PC
it still runs

had the following specs:
>Abit FA4 mobo
>Cyrix Cx486DLC-33
>8MB RAM
>212MB Seagate ST3243A
>VGA Headland board (upgraded to ISA ATI Mach32 after it failed a few years ago)
>Sound Blaster 16 Vibra PnP (though when we first bought it all it had was PC speaker, I think we added this around 97-98)

that was the family PC from 1996-1999

then we upgraded to a HP 6640c (500mhz AMD K6-2, 64MB RAM, shit SiS 530 integrated gfx that was later upgraded to a Radeon 7000)

was a huge upgrade

the family computer in the kitchen.

my mom used to always get angry at me because I'd spend hours playing vidya on the computer while she wanted to check her emails.

Eventually my dad bought me a desktop so that she could use the kitchen computer in peace.

The weird thing about this story is that we were always a "tech family". Dad is director of security operations at a Fortune 500 global company, and Mom is a database administrator for some company that handles Medicare data for the gov't. One of my favorite things to do used to always be to sit down on the ground behind my Dad's chair and watch while he configured our home firewall, server, network, etc.

Looking back, I don't really understand why I didn't at least get a laptop earlier.
>>
>>58958371
i had a few cheap garage sale dos boxes before, but somehow i managed to convince my parents to get a family machine in 2000
i suppose they thought they might use it themselves, but not really
my dad only ever used it for the occasional stealth shooter and flight simulator, and my mum never touched it ever
my sister occasionally used it, mostly for IM and the sims
i'm the only one in my family who was interested in computers themselves
