I didn't have that one but I had something similar looking. It had 32MB of memory and accepted a smartmedia card if you wanted more than that.

Also it took AAA batteries, which was fucking nice, because it was easy to just buy a four-pack of NiMH rechargeables and keep them with you. Battery dies? Pop in a new one. I'm still salty over the rise of Li-ion and custom battery form-factors.

I really wanted pic related. I knew my parents wouldn't get it because they never ordered things online and it wasn't in any of our stores. I asked for an "mp3 player" and this is what they got.

http://images.sonicelectronix.com/images/1414704/main/LS-mzn420d-RB.jpg

I was disappointed but tried to act like I liked it. My sister told my dad and he offered to take it back to the store. He said the clerk told him that was an mp3 player. I felt like I would hurt his feelings if I told him to take it back so I kept it.

It's kind of cool but trust me it won't get you laid in middle school.

The MuVo's design was brilliant desu. Lasted for years; if it had more space I might still use it because fuck touchscreens, lockscreens and music apps that try to do everything besides just play some fucking sound.

Did anyone else's MuVo output a subtle high-frequency whine when the backlight was on?

Samsung's semi-dumb phones were fine. Especially the clamshell designs. Nokia couldn't seem to make anything competitive at lower price points that wasn't a rehash of their classic candybar design.

I agree that even Symbian was better than Samsung's pre-Android OS efforts, though.

At the time 99% percent of all cell phones in Sweden seemed to be Sony Ericsson, I assume Nokia had a similar position in Finland.

It had two screens and a case with extra battery that made it look like a flip phone. Pretty neat, but I could never change my ringtone because it had to be stored on the internal memory which it never let me transfer anything to no matter what I did.

Toshiba Libretto W105

Short Answer: Not worth it unless you have a lot of money to waste.

Long Answer: It's an interesting UMPC but have few flaws which kinda ruin this unique portable computer.

Fan is nosy and get very loud if you try to use it like surf the web or watch video. Even if you turn off everything, it still audible. Would recommend to use a headphone (or sound cancel earbud) if you try to watch video on it.

Battery life is average (2-2.5 hours) which is okay for a UMPC....if you don't try to use it too much. I guess it might get worst if you try to push this little portable computer.

The touchscreen keyboard is something I am not too fond with but it's workable. The standard keyboard format might be okay if you put the computer on a table but the custom one they have is more useful when typing (make sense when you consider the size of this thing).

Using Win 07 OS which isn't the best OS for this small size but it's work fine for what it can be done. Was consider to try to install Linux as I heard it can be done but never really go through.

The screen is actually nice to use and how it's design, make it a nice digital book reader or surf the web. Just wish the battery last a bit longer.

I think that's all I can say about it. I use it for 6 months on and off and have to put it aside in storage. Just wish they is a way to control the fan but it have to be on no matter if you want the computer not to overheat. Now, if you can get it cheap, then go for it but as what the current price they're selling in the used market, I will avoid it and just go for the older Toshiba Libretto as it's more useful than this one. This is just to show off what new technology they can squeeze into this small laptop.

I remember 2001.
AMD Athlon 2ghz processor.
nVidia Gefore2 MX 32mb graphics card with HARDWARE T&L.

Man, games looked amazing. The PS2 could not compete. Was the only time I had ever had a good PC in our household and it was amazing. Although, I had recently discovered ZSNES and was busily playing through older games on it as well. It's kind of funny that the high end PC opened my eyes to good console games: The Marios were fun to play, as was Chrono Trigger and Breath of Fire and all the others. But random shit like FIFA and NHL and so on just wasn't that fun.

It's funny because it's true to this day. The best games (and also programs) are those that are true to their vision.

I can't wait for a SNES emulator to be ported to Emacs.

I'd buy a phone with one in no time.

Short Answer: Almost No

Long Answer: It depend on what you're going to use it for really to tell the truth. Majority of my UMPC I own is very old and certain things will be difficult to be use for today time unless you use Linux OS on them (and even then, it won't work as efficient as newer tech).

I guess the Toshiba Libretto W105 might be the best choice of what I own which can be still use today as it have Win 7 OS and could do most stuff fine. But with the loud fan which you can't control at all and will get louder if you try to use it, a battery life which is average at best, and a used price tag which you could buy a decent entry to mid level laptop or chromebook, it isn't the best choice in the market.

I guess the one I have the most fun with is the OQO Model 02 and the Sony Vaio VGN-U71P which I also own the docking system for both of them. A very interesting portable computer on the go and can and a decent power to be use as a portable desktop computer at the time when I got it. Now, it won't be as useful anymore now.

They still make fake cassette tapes with a cable coming out of them - you use them to plug an MP3 player into a car too old to have an aux jack. (I own such a car, and an adapter for it, because fuck having a new stereo put in)

IKTF anon, i had a G4 tower from 2001 i picked up off the curb until 2013. It was usable for typing up stuff, but it was unbearably slow for anything web related even before web 2.0 cancer became a huge thing.
Replaced it with a c2d dell, I still have both towers.

I didn't own this, but in the world of digital photography this is the ultimate early 2000's design concept which wouldn't be considered again (and subsequently become mainstream) until the start of the next decade. Lots of people still desire this camera, as its specifications are still compelling for the current year for a certain kind of photographer.

I think the cameras people will look back upon fondly in the next decade from the current are things like the original Fujifilm X100 and Sigma's DP series, and probably the 5DMII (2008 but representative of a large jump in quality, still performs more than well enough for almost any function today.)

You know you can just swap the head unit, right?
>>
>>58946066
I did, but it's an awkward size not to mention a pain the ass. standard doubledin is too small so I needed to make custom brackets and there's still gaps on all sides. plus to get at it I have to remove the central console, then two side plates, then two screws, then detach HVAC controls, remove the center plate, then remove four screws, remove the old head unit, get the new one properly wired, and then find out the FM antenna is too short for your new unit anyway.

That thing had horrible battery life, bad interface, would pause/skip/park the HD when touched, and like 2.5 hours of realistic battery life.

External battery pack that gave it a total of 86 hours of play time
inline remote control that worked great

I had an atrac3plus CD player before this one but I saved up $100 and "upgraded" to this model. Honestly one of my favorite purchases. Having 400+ songs was awesome. Plus the battery life was great. I got this just before MP3 players became something a kid would have so I felt like such a badass with all my songs compared to all the regular CD plebs. It was built like a tank too. I let some bitch borrow it for a few minutes and she dropped it off a ledge right onto hard floor. No damage at all.

>>58946923
Muh atrac negro. Also you are absolutely right. The Sony software that you needed to make atrac CDs was a massive pile of shit. It would constantly crash 4 hours into me encoding my library and have to start over.
