All posts below this one are pointless as they have posted an inferior keyboard. The best mechanical keyboar is without a doubt, this.

Thanks but no thanks to the meme board king.
>>
>>58926823
Theres a problem with that one, its got some weirdly shaped enter key
>>
Thinking of getting this, kinda want to tone down the aluminum though.
https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=2131
>>
>>58926861
It's a meme, and some would probably tell you to get something else, but if you like the look go ahead; it's certainly unique.
>>
>>58926870
The little mouse cable thing is dumb but I'm thinking a dark tint on the aluminum might be neat as it would be a purple black.

I'm still considering it though, I'm not completely sure yet.
>>
>>58926861
>>58926861
I still don't quite understand why Ducky decided to put a mouse bungee on it at that angle
>>
>>58926897
I'm pretty sure you can change the direction it points but that weird angle is pretty much stuck like that. It is optional though.
>>
>>58926897
That strap is a mouse bungee? Any pictures of it in action? I don't get it.
>>
Is there a very noticeable difference between Reds and Blacks? Been enjoying Blacks for several years, but it seems like it's not very popular anywhere if you want decent caps and backlit. Tactile/clicky niggers are cancer desu.
>>
>>58926973
About 20g of weight, that's what.

I can't conceptualize 20g. Speak in feels, anon.
>>
>>58926918
Pretty sure the mouse cord runs along the center slit of the bungee. Can't imagine it being that useful in that location.
>>
>>58927001
Blacks are about 25% harder to press. Reds bottom out weight is about the same as the actuation weight of blacks.

Probably because of the gamer look and tackyness compared to the classy Ducky keyboards.

Pick up a set of cherry profile, thick PBTs. There's usually a set on massdrop for 30-40 bucks at any given time.

$28.90 looks too good to be true for this
Anybody have this?
>>
>>58930384
Some people in this thread have bought some of those. That's generally the price for cheap keycaps so don't expect to be blown away. Though PBT is a nice step up from ABS
>>
>>58930741
They gotta be better than my thin OEM caps from my Rapid-i.

Planning to put em on an Anne Pro so cheap isn't really a problem.
>>
>>58931061
The Anne pro keycaps are higher quality then the ones you linked, but if you want to replace the ugly font I cant blame you

Mainly looking for something with a less crappy font, though downgrading is... meh.

Also no shine-through.

>>
>>58936189
If they're dye-sub they also won't wear down, but I haven't seen any dye-sub ABS keycaps. Laser engraved will last a pretty long time depending on how the quality is
>>
>>58936228
the only advantage the cooler master has is software, other then that ducky is better.
>>
>>58936262
Do the Logitech gaming brand stuff hold up then? They seem to be decent quality only because they must have figured out how their shit by now like they did with the g403 and master line
>>
>>58936331
I'd pass on Logitech keyboards since for 10-20 bucks more depending on where you are you are you can get a Ducky keyboard which is a huge step up above any logitech keyboards

Things like standard layouts, standard stabilizer placement, programmable macros, function layers, better build quality, a steel plate, double shot keycaps, etc. wont be found in a Logitech keyboard
>>
>>58936260
>>58936281
Okay, what about Poker 3 vs. Ducky? I have an extensive amount of mechanical keyboards as it is, but none with backlighting like this. It seems like the Poker 3 has a smaller array of colours compared to the Ducky One TKL RGB, is it just me or are they actually the same?

An animation program called Houdini. I was doing keyboard renders some time ago and needed a way to create keycaps without manually modeling every type of keycap/row/profile/etc. I made a "digital asset" that basically does this. The gif is the parameters being animated.

If you have a clone topre board make sure to check if the keys come banded. Unbanding them makes them feel much more like traditional topre.

hello,

work in this field, I would like to remind users TADA68 is not a consumer keyboard! it is used in specialized areas of computing i.e. supercomputers, enterprise, certain areas of software development, networking and storage management (servers).

there are reasons for this which can be loosely categorized by 'externally' and 'internally'. externally, gnu+machines are easier to maintain, cheaper and more reliable. internally, the l-kernel itself responds and is better suited to the tasks I previously mentioned.

notice that these tasks listed are generally not consumer oriented! TADA is taking great steps and leaps in trying to penetrate that market but as of today and tomorrow won't be a consumer keyboard. If you are interested in this type keyboard, use a Poker 3! It is a consumer friendly.

thank you for reading!!

Hey /mkg/, I just want to say thank you. I asked for advice a week or two ago and someone recommended gateron browns to me. I found a good full keyboard with them and I am very happy. The keyboard is very heavy for its size and very well made. The board allows both keycaps and switches to be changed as well. I'm thankful for the help I received here. I appreciate you guys.

I've been rocking mine for a few months now. It's really nice except the "d" key may be giving out on me.

I love the key layout. It's about the perfect size for me -- enough room and standard enough to be comfortable, yet still a very compact keyboard. imo it's a beautiful keyboard. The FN layout is on point. The space bar/shift/enter key stabilizers are a little bit loud but not bad. They keys feel great.

Looking back, I wish I had spent the $20-$30 or so extra dollars for the Cherry MX Brown version, but I mean for $40 I can't imagine there's a better keyboard at that price.

the magicforce 68 is what I have and many people meme about. It's 65% keyboard with directional buttons delete/insert/pgup/pgdn. If you're being really cheap you can get the knock-off switch version on amazon for $39 or get the cherry mx version for $69 also on amazon.

If you're unsure about what kind of keys you want, take your time and get a tester kit for cheap on ebay or aliexpress. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/tester/32760318733.html

Very far from the original.

The spacebar (not in my pic) feels more satisfying and overall all the keycaps are a wee heavier from the original.

One other good thing is that sweat wont be more visible and isn't as slippery as the o.g. keycaps.

Despite having my kb for 3-4months, the first 2 months with o.g. keycaps felt cheap and slippery with constant use.

I could say it's worth it for me. GLHF in massdrop OR you could buy (and pick up) one at Xtreme Solutions (Singapore)

Blue. Cherry makes good clicky switches, but Browns are the worst of both worlds.

Only people who recommend Browns, bought a keyboard with Brown switches, and are in buyers remorse.
>>
>>58950043
What is bad about browns? The image in the guide says they feel like reds with dirt in them, but I'm not sure what that means. We only have fucking Best Buy in my area and they only had gamer keyboards with reds on display. I really did not like the reds.
>>
>>58950043

I'm trying to learn how to recognize from feel mechanical keyboards.
I go to this thrift store and pretty frequently they have keyboards.
From what i've noticed so far, regular keyboards take some threshold of force to press down a key, while mechanicals keys start going down with the lightest of touch.
>>
>>58949897
>Wrist rests will do you a world of good though.

>>
>>58950370
It's the truth. The higher the keys are off of your desk, the truer it is.

If you actually rest your wrists on something while typing, you're only going to give yourself CTS faster. You should not have any pressure put on your wrists while typing. Resting your wrists on something while not typing is fine though.

Browns are supposed to have a distinct tactile bump. Clears have this, and vintage browns have it, but Cherry changed its tooling at some point and on modern browns the bump is very slight and not easily distinguished from the "scratchiness" of the switch overall.

Gateron makes a cloned brown switch with smoother action and a more pronounced bump.

I never had issues with mine. I did swap them after a couple of months, but never noticed any wear, and I used them a lot during that time. You really shouldn't expect Corsair legends to be any better though, because they're pretty similar quality-wise. It's all cheap ABS, both of them.

backlit keycaps just let the light shine through the caps, with regular caps it's visible around the bottom edge

Do you really need to see them? You probably don't if you use PC for more than 5 years.
Just stop looking at the keyboard, you can type blind even without knowing how to properly touch type with 10 fingers.
IMO LEDs are nice addition to keyboard aesthetic, but backlit caps is just too much.

I've used unicomp keyboards in the past and loved it. is the mechanical jew the same or better?
>>
>>58960048
Depends. If you get browns then prepare to be disapointed. If you want just get a dell at101w for 40 bucks on ebay
>>
>>58960048
Unicomp is also mechanical.
>>
Red caps or brown caps?
>>
>just got my new pok3r in
>Immediately consider buying another mech
Do I have a problem?
>>
I want to get a french keyboard. I'm learning french and using it quite often. It's pretty annoying to remember pic related with its retarded layout. Any gens have a recommendation? Should I just get a new mechanical as a secondary and get french keycaps? Or just a shitty alps?

I'm also interested in getting a cheap, very small keyboard, perhaps a 60 or even a 40

I was gonna buy a POK3R, but I ended up just buying more pens and inks. Guess I'm sticking with the Gaymen keyboard for now.
>>
>>58953499
Shut the fuck up, topre is not 'end game'.
>>
>>58961617
it is for a lot of people when you consider the price of a topre keyboard, but that's the main reason
>>
Just bought a pok3r for home (small desk), what should my 2nd mech be? Was thinking about getting one for work. Another pok3r? A 100% keyboard?
>>
>>58962085
do you like the form factor?
do you need a numpad?
you can easily figure out for yourself what you want and/or need
>>
Any suggestions for English/Japanese (those ones with the english character with the hiragana at the top corner of the key) keycaps and where to buy them?

MX silent switches

Reds with less actuation and sound

Are these the final form of reds that are actually decent for typing and still amazing for vidyas?
>>
>>58962620

UPDATE: Does anyone have an issue with USB and a Model M and the Scroll Lock LED not lighting up?
>>
>>58939130
figured it out yet? otherwise remove all normal nodes and put them at the end
>>
>>58962735
mr anon, why u cry?
>>
>>58963302
Don't have silent switches but I have reds. It took me a week to get used to pressing them. I played a lot of vidya and found myself accidentally holding keys down and not knowing why my character was doing what they were doing. But I did get used to it and that doesn't happen so much anymore.

Is the LED broken?
