Hi /g/
I noticed something is heavily using my bandwith and after some investigation it appears windows 10 is downloading some binaries of some stupid game (royal revolt 2)
I'm the sole user of this computer and never even heard about the game.
Is there a way to stop it from doing such a stuff in the future? I know, I know I should install gento, but that's not what I'm asking about.

If you absolutely have to use win10, don't use normalkek versions of the OS (pro and home), only enterprise.

No idea if it's related, but when you unistall candy crush it comes back a few days later for me.

Just play the games, Microsoft knows what is right for you :^)
>>
>>58916329
Well, I have a license only for pro. p2p seems to be turned off.
>>58916334
I'm on data cap, it's driving me insane
>>
>>58916300
Open up registry and look for silentinstalledapps. Turn that shit from a 1 to a 0. Also if you want to take more drastic action you can sue the fuckers for eating your bandwidth. Please do.

I can always go back, but it's a hassle.

My win 10 ist downloading the Twitter App

It's probably in the EULA, so unless he's in the European Union I doubt he'd succeed.
>>
>>58916567
I am. I would, if I wasn't weak willed pussy. I would have to gather proofs and then fight with those assholes in court. Maybe someone else will win fat cash from them
>>
>Microsoft downloads shit through your windows updater without your permission
>>
>>58916628
You do have proof, it says SILENT INSTALLED APPS right fucking there.
>>
>>58916764
sure, but I imagine I would have to record the connection state too
>>
macOS doesn't do this.
>>
>>58916811
You're right, fagOS doesn't do anything.
>>
>>58916300
Then install Linux, you cuck. Or install windows 7.
>>
Just play the damn game

I looked into the matter a bit more and registry tweak supposedly doesn't work anymore. For anyone with the same problem I found this http://winaero.com/blog/stop-windows-10-anniversary-update-from-installing-candy-crush-and-other-unwanted-apps/
>>58916876
I think I would rather install Gento. And I will someday. It's a hassle tho. I have some programs on windows 10 I'm pretty attached to (like fan xpert and volumouse).
>>
>>58916894
>I'll install gentoo
don't be an autist. You could install sabayon.
>>
>>58916300
Set your internet connection to limited. This way Windows 10 won't download stuff without permission... Maybe. There are so many fake settings on Windows 10 I don't know what actually does what it claims.

But seriously switch to Ubuntu. PC doesn't even have any good videogames anyway.
>>
>>58917008
And civ 5 works on all platforms anyway. So do many paradox games. Strategy is all you need on PC anyway. Hopefully civ VI will come to Linux at some point. Somebody bought their Linux team a bunch of cupcakes or something.

You should install Gentoo or some other GNU/Linux distro that respects your freedoms. There's no way to fully disable the Windows 10 botnet because it's built into the kernel and other low level stuff that nobody outside of Microsoft or without source code access fully understands. I keep Windows 7 and XP on a hard drive for muh gaymes and Debian 8 on a separate hard drive for everything else. Works great. Debian is encrypted with LUKS.
>>
>>58917105
Is Debian a good gnu/Linux distribution?
>>
>>58917008
>Set your internet connection to limited
Where do I do that?
>>
>>58917157
Yeah, it's pretty good. Mostly just werks, and when it doesn't I can solve all of my problems with a Google search. Installing it and setting up encryption was really easy too.
>>
>>58917008
To be fair, linux has at least 30% windows games by default. That's more than enough. For anything else you have PlayOnLinux, or passthrough if you're desperate.

>>58917157
One of the better ones imo.
>>
>>58917081
>Hopefully civ VI will come to Linux at some point.
It's already out for linux. In fact there's already +3000 games for linux right now.

When they port whole Witcher series, I'm switching.
>>
>>58916894
I uninstalled the Windows store and I haven't been getting these app anymore
>>
>>58917590

This

1. Run Powershell as admin
2. Get-AppxPackage -name *WindowsStore* | Remove-AppxPackage
3. Delete all the live tiles

done

>3000
It's 3000 just on steam. It's still less than half the available games, but Linux and MacOS versions are usually released after some time. With WINE you can play almost anything popular on Linux without a problem.
Also pic related. Daily reminder that corporations are just trying to dominate your lives by keeping you on MalwareOS. You shouldn't trade in your freedom for entertainment, that's what drug addicts do.

is there some kind of general guide to removing all the cancer of w10? my laptop doesn't have w7 drivers available so I'm stuck with it
>>
>>58917157
Yes but use testing for desktop
>>
>>58917927
you can run this instead
Get-AppXProvisionedPackage -Online | Remove-AppxProvisionedPackage -Online
to prevent hidden installation of apps for new users.
