How do we make Firefox fast again?
Steal Chromes JavaScript engine, keep everything else
Compile Chromium with Firefox branding
They're rewriting the engine in Rust. While that inherently isn't gonna make it faster, they have a reason to rewrite everything and optimize it for parallelism. It's very promising I'd say.

I don't get this meme.
It's the fastest browser I've used.
>>58914018
When will they finish that? I've been hearing that for a year. Meanwhile, Chrome keeps gaining market share.
>>58913879
By using old versions.
>>58914038
Wrong. Nightly is way faster, almost on par with Chromium
>>58914018
Does rewriting the Firefox in Rust has anything to do with SJW movement?

How can a beta version be faster than its stable variant?
>>58914072
This is what I always ask and I never get an answer
Best Firefox fork bois?
>>58914072
Because its' e10s is way better compared to stable. Nightly is months ahead code-wise so it almost always has better hardware accel support and so on.

Are you pretending to be dumb?
>>58914022
No it isn't. Loading a boards catalog on 4chan takes forever. Whereas it's instantaneous on chrome

Upgrade your internet and PC.
Wow! Magic
>>58914037
It's been under development since 2013 actually. I can only assume they were too busy with Firefox OS to take it seriously though.
>>58913896
Fun fact: JavaScriptCore is actually faster than V8 on average.
There's actually already a few projects underway to improve performance. I don't think /g/ could really give a useful answer because we're a bunch of dumbasses here.

Why not just answer the question instead of replying with insults?
If Firefox 51 stable is slower than its previous versions, why would Nightly 54 be faster than 51 stable?
>>58914353
>why would Nightly 54 be faster than 51 stable?
Because Mozilla continues to make progress on multi-process functions and other engine improvements. That simple.
Currently trying Nightly, surprisingly fast, almost as fast as Chromium (though Chromium opens much faster on first boot)
I'm afraid of adding any addons though, I don't wanna lose this speed

I'm pretty sure if you just post that on their forums they'll add it.

Atleast install uBlock Origin, set it to advanced mode and block third party frames (and 3rd party JS if you can deal with it). It will be even faster, no joke.

You should use Opera then.
divide the version number by 10
>>58915085
Chropera.
>>58916024
Opera is using blink and is not based on chromium.
Fire 90% of the employees (including managers).
>>58913879
Make it Chromium based.
>>58914812
Please do. That would be nice. Tab detaching like chrome.

I'm too much of an autist to register and ask for a feature, sorry anon.
>>58914192
Even Aurora gives better JS performance than Stable. I imagine Nightly is even more optimized.
