Just bought Asus router for my parents, then came to realise the cable coming from wall is telephone plug type and the socket in router is for larger cat5 cable.
I nearly feel stupid for asking, but can I just use some adapter thingy or do I actually need a modem do go inbetweeb wall and the router?
those are mini cat5.
cat5 plugs are backwards compatible to mini cat5, you just have to push a little

You need a modem if that router is not also a modem.
Dumbass millennial. Go back to begging for $20 an hour at McD's so you can pay off your feminist dance therapy degree.

You need a modem, because phone plug and 8P8C aren't compatible even electrically.

Get a quality modem that's not recommended by the ISP.

>Says he is 27
>Still a dumb cunt who lacks simple networking skills
I cannot be to much of a dickhead here..
You can use a RJ45 socket but you have to cable it onto the phone line
>In other words
Splice the wire apart and put it into the spaces in the RJ45 sockets.
You can then plug in a phone line into your router

You don't know shit about dentistry and I don't know shit about networking. But I do know that you're trolling :)
Let's ask 4chan instead of contacting the internet provider that we pay for service
