Can somebody compare these two operating systems specifically?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoSg3fSB7PA
This is a packet sniffing analysis of windows 10 but nobody compares 8.1
So which do i install? 8.1 pro or 10 ltsb
10 LTSB unless you have an nvidia 10 series card
I'm using 8.1 right now and I have a problem at boot, it takes a good 30 seconds to a minute after the desktop loads to be usable. Didn't have this problem with 7 or 10. Also If you care about games, battlefield 1 works like ass on 7 but fine on 8.1 and 10
>>589094498.1 pro 10ltsb
touchscreen check check
botnet check check
forced updates x check
dx12 gayming x check
>>58909474
Why not with a 10 series?
>>58909540
the drivers will refuse to install on windows builds before 10586 (LTSB is 10240)
>>58909520
I want to like 10, but the forced updates are too much of a dealbreaker
Like that new UI they're gonna roll out. If it looks like shit then I don't wanna have to deal with that
>>58909689
good to know, thanks.
I replaced 10 with Windows 10 because games were laggy as hell when it suddenly decided to index my hard drive in the background. However, I use windows exclusively to game, so this may not be relevant to you.
>>58909735
I replaced windows 10 with windows 8.1*
This virtual machine (after windows update) got up to build...
>>58909449
Ive used ltsb, ltsb 2015 n and now im on 2016 ltsb n and i am satisfied. Never had problems with drivers (acer notebook). I control updates with updates disabler and with that thiggy from microsoft which can hide updates.

If you not absolutely must to have dx12 then 8.1 or 7.
8.1 may have botnet too.
Still, you can at least customize it a bit, you can disable updates for good without having issues too. It's more stable.

Ok so imagine this really good cake. Lets call it 7. OK so you have this cake and you like it. Then the guy who made it takes a giant SHIT on it.
He calls this cake "8". He then realizes his error: Theres corn in the shit. He starts picking it out and calls this "improvement" "8.1".
Then he scraps the shit off, the cake is still shitty but less so...then he adds a fucking spy camera on top and calls it "10".
I think that's an adequate description.
>>58911507
I couldn't give you something concrete, but even nowadays I have 8.1 working as intended, while at times after certain updates there's something unexpected about windows 10.
I cannot count how many times I got the start menu to just straight not open at all.
>>58911507
Every time i see someone having troubles with anything (media playback, games, whatever) it happens that they run win10 and some of the recent updates broke their shit. Win 8.1 is rock stable while 10 feels like beta at best.
>>58909689
Ltsb 2016 is already out. Noo reason to use the 2015 version now
Isn't 10 edu edition the best?
They removed cortana and other botnet shit for educational reasons (no clue why)
No dogshit tablet ui that you can't escape (at best you can avoid parts of it)
>>58909474
Will it good for gaming and shit?
>>58909449
8 is just a worse version of 10, don't bother with it
Y'all know you can de facto opt out of win 10 updates, right? Next time you get an update, go in and roll back the update saying it made your system unusable. You'll still get security updates but not feature ones.
I did this for the anniversary update and havent had to update to it yet
>>58913518
My fucking sides. Go back shitposting to /pol/.
>>58912038
enterprise ltsb is best
>>58913777
ltsb means security but not feature updates
>>58911706
Currently running 2015 LTSB.
Is there any way to update to 2016 without completely format/reinstalling?
>>58914354
Simply put, no.
8 is dogshit, if you fell for the win8 meme, id be surprised if you didnt fall for the win10 meme also
win7 is the last good version of windows, this is well known, just like everyone knows that 2.2.1 is the last safe version of utorrent
>>58909719
There's no forced updates. You can simply turn it off in task scheduler/services.
>>58914323
Yes but I was just saying for win 10 home. Not having to install a different release.
>>58914386
>expecting people to be technologically proficient
They only spout memes and other people's opinions here, they couldn't be bothered actually learning for themselves
>>58914940
Pretty much this.
But performance...
http://news.softpedia.com/news/nsa-approved-windows-10-cleared-for-classified-use-512841.shtml
>>58914354
Get the iso and just upgrade, it's that simple.
Tl;dr 10
>>58909449
Lol MS deliberately bloats windows 8.1.
>Update doesn't work
>New installation doesn't have network card drivers
TL;DR
Win10 shills try desperately to justify their shitty OS by comparing it to another shitty OS, because comparing Win10 to Win7 will always result in them looking like idiots, as Win7 is the last decent OS Microsoft ever released.
>>58915988
no source? then you just wasted your time writing that
>>58914361
Can it be use for gaming? The enterprise ltsb December
>>58914418
You sure worked hard for those $0.02 rupees
>>58915988
win7 was shit though
How do I packet sniff like this guy?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoSg3fSB7PA
I want to do tests of my own but wireshark never gives me the DNS lookups, just tcp/udp connections that are gibberish to me.
Anyone used blackbird with ltsb 2016?
does it work? is there a better alternative?

Underrated post
What's the best way to get win 10 ltsb? You can't just buy it as far as I know...
>>58922873
Incredibly unrelated.
