You'd gain so much more real-estate it you rotate those screens. For example, even if one of them is vertical, you'll have a MUCH better view of web pages, PDFs and even 4chan threads.

well he'll have to keep the bottom one landscape for gaming. Which he presumably does, considering his screen has Steam on it. And if he wants the second one on top of, instead of to one side of, the first, he might as well keep that landscape too, making it portrait would put the top of the screen very far above eye level, and might not be possible at all, depending on how those are mounted.

anyway portrait can be kinda cool for long documents, but landscape isn't really bad at all. Horizontal real estate is still useful, once you have more than one document up. Split them side-by-side.

10 laptops + 3 monitors ...for what purpose?

Justify your electricity bill.
>>
>>58913638
If I had the money, I'd do something ridiculous too. No different from the buyfags to spend $100s of dollars on plastic figurines.
>>
>>58913665
It's more about how inefficient the CPUs are likely to be. It makes me wonder how long before the increased cost in electricity for the same performance would be equal to paying for better hardware in the first place.
Collecting something is different from attempting to use all of it in the same time, and the room layout clearly has a specific usage case in mind.

So, I want to know how they justify the electricity.

If they are in fact more efficient than I gave them credit for, then the entry cost probably means the electricity cost is irrelevant but this is /g/ and it's more likely that they repaired "broken" Thinkpads from $50 Craigslist listings.

Because some people have multiple use scenarios. Some times I keep my triple monitors landscape for workflow when working in video editing and researching. Also when playing games at 21:9, or I may have 1 monitor portrait while doing research/reading pdfs or mangos and have the other 2 landscape for movies and web browsing. Lastly, I can flip them all portrait for eyefinity. The borders are a pain in the ass, but I bought these monitors years ago. I wanted 144hz and there weren't many options at that time. I may go with bigger but I'm likely to keep 3 monitors on an arm. it's like having a 40" with triple 24"s.

I want a second one but also slightly bigger, probably around 24" as my new main monitor. What the fug do I look out for nowadays? I never new much about monitors to begin with and a lot has changed over the last few years. I'm probably looking for 1440p because of the additional room.

How weird will it be to use a 22" 1080p and a 24" 1440p together?

Solar, is how i justify my electric bill

as for why? why not. presently only three of thsoe machines run windows, the rest run their own flavor of linux for specific tasks, multimedia, network monitoring form the server that acts as my primary router for the entire household, a machien dedicated for doing office tasks a primary machine for video editing/playing vidya a secondary laptop for playing vidia and capturing and soemtimes editing and two mor elaptops that have expresscard external GPU's still in boxes because future reasons.

the left most laptop is part of my dignostiscs bench that runs my o-scope, signal analyzers and decoders and generates test signals and injects them via problmes when i am tryign to figure out issues or sometimes create them.
>>
>>58914189 #
Famalam in your case buying a 4k TV and doing all of these thing on different windows would be sufficient, without three different power cords and three different hdmi ports. Plus, not having to flip shit when you start doing something else.

How come Terry Davis is able to write an entire operating system using only 640x480
while /g/ claims you need 3x 27" monitors to be "productive"?

Linus Torvalds also uses a single monitor.

Jeff Dean, the most valuable Google engineer. He's like a God at Google and not even the CEO would go against him. He literally made Google what it is today and wrote/worked-on all of their most important software stacks. He's worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

Now, notice something interesting:

He doesn't have two, three or four monitors and he doesn't have some gigantic TV screen that kills your focus and distracts him from everything important.

He doesn't have some bullshit meme mech keyboard with some special switches that were forged by elves in Japan from katana-grade steel and lights that emit perfect sRGB colors.

He doesn't have some tricked out text editor with million different features and colors.

He doesn't run some super-autistic Linux distro like Arch that demands you babysit it all the time.

He doesn't have some DE with customized CSS US that you usually see in tons of threads on here.

He didn't even change the default theme, colors or the default background.

He can afford all that shit, yet he doesn't waste his time on it. Instead, he writes 100x more lines of code than you and is 1,000,000x more accomplished than you'll ever be. And he's infinitely smarter than you'll ever be.

So quit falling for fucking memes and quit craving all the latest bullshit that gets posted on here in these cancerous consumerist "generals" threads that just make you feel inadequate. Just learn your craft and get better. What matters is what's in your head and how you express yourself and not what you have on your desk.

What /g/ literally believes: The more monitors you have, the better you are at computers.

LOL.

I find it hard to believe anyone who thinks that one big monitor serves the same function as two monitors has any idea what a "work space" is. Not that a two-monitor work space is inherently better than a one-monitor one, but they're clearly different things. You can't just re-wire the way brain perceives objects just because you can abstract them into different things.

Ducky Zero with blues. (DK2087) Numpad is a Leopold, also with blues. It has the annoying property that it generates scancodes for regular numbers, not the actual numpad keys, so anything that cares about the difference between "8" and "numpad 8" won't work.

>also, what are those black boxes? heaters?
yes. Because I'm a stereotype of a neckbear and live in a basement, its cold all the time. They're only 200 watts each, which means they won't burn you if you point one of them at your mouse hand.

Currently 1 monitor for gaming/browing/studying and 1 TV for movies/series, a secod monitor wouldn't be much usefull for me unless maybe to keep a larger portion of audio tracks visible on Reaper or perhaps to see both the track and the piano tab.
I do consider getting an ultra wide monitor for gaming in the future.

Two, one 16:9 1440p and one 16:9 1080p, both of them can be tiltable so I have one portrait and one landscape. I wish they were at least 16:10 but it's impossible to find a cheap tiltable 1920x1200 IPS monitor so I just went with some entry level Dell monitor.

When will 3:2 monitors become popular? 4:3 is acceptable but 3:2 is way more comfy to use for things like photo editing and reading and editing documents.

It triggers my autism that 16:9 is the standard aspect ratio for monitors nowadays, it literally only exists for watching movies on and if you're going to watch movies all the time then get a fucking TV which is made for watching movies on and will be a hundred times more enjoyable than watching on a small-ass computer monitor.

16:10 should be the standard aspect ratio with 3:2 and 4:3 as alternatives for more square aspect ratios, and if you want 16:9 then go buy a TV and stop being a faggot
>>
I wanted to buy a second monitor, specifically IPS for muh colors.

Found an Acer 24" that seems alright, although the description varies between IPS, LED and IPS + LED backlight.

What the fuck does it all mean and what the fuck is LED backlight, I thought monitors are either LED or IPS?
>>
>>58928439
LED only refers to backlight. It has fuck all to do with the panel technology, though LED backlit monitors are usually more evenly lit than CCFL monitors.

>>58928439
No, monitors are either TN or IPS, IPS has much better viewing angles and generally better colors.

This is the epitome of this atrocity of a copypasta.

Not only this is sluggish, this writes like it's a 4yo kid whose sentences go on and on, with 'and' after 'and', without ever finishing the sentence.

Then comes the fact that you cannot write out these numbers in text form because how else would you give us a dimension of how awesome the guy is if we don't see the numbers?

This is the worst copypasta I've seen in ages.

Well if you're using the analog signals anyway it doesn't matter much whether you run them through the analog pins in DVI or use VGA.

On the other hand if your monitor can accept digital input you'd be a fool to trade it for analog.

wells, it is not the same IMEI, but its a sequential imei, so in the end its the same thing as being the same

source: for 15years 50% phones in brazil are 2sim (or 3 sim), even samsung, motorola, chinese, and every other manufacturer that sell models here have 2sim models on almost all price tiers

>>58909263
>Local authorities aren't privy
you can and should report your stolen phone IMEI so all the carriers in your country will refuse that phone.

>>58909222
but none of that matters because what >>58909131 said didnt imply switching carriers for privacy, and i guess unitedstadians wouldnt imagine the usefulness of this, in Brasil you pay 5-10cents/min to call others from ur carrier and 70-140 to call ppl on other carriers, save for R$200 ($60) plans that will sometimes give a discount rate of 30/min, but in general most plans are paid by minute to any carrier/mobile/land number so its just a scam in the end..
so its pretty much mandatory to have 2 carriers, there 3 major and 1 minor, so its unusual to know someone that doesnt have at least 1 carrier in common with your 2sim, in those cases, we call via whatsapp voip

A billion keks. Quality post though. The reason they have one monitor is probably because they need the desk space for papers and office supplies and stuff. Just speaking from experience there.
