Does nobody make them anymore?
I have a Nexus 7 (2013) and it is getting a little old (current android is slow, no 60fps YouTube, sensors starting to break...)
Is there anything like what a Nexus 7 (2017) would be? I.e. good specs, decent price and stock android / ROM support?
>>58904572
I'm interested. I still use my Nexus 7 2013 every day and I don't feel it getting old that much. I didn't even notice there's no 60fps to be honest. Still I'd like a new tablet with a better aspect ratio and an up to date Android system.
I wish, I've been looking for a successor to my Nexus 9 that isn't an iPad whilst considering it too late to buy a Pixel C with how Google is with device support. There really isn't anything, and the Huawei Nexus 8 rumours from last year are all dead.
tablets and laptops are outdated
tablets are kill. they were a cool niche product for awhile but have few practial uses besides cheap entertainment and browsing/reading.

That 60fps bug on YouTube is really annoying because more and more videos only come with 60fps, so you always have to set these videos manually to 480p or else you just get audio and a frozen picture...
Also it feels pretty sluggish compared to current phones. I have a cheap redmi note 3 pro and it feels muuuch faster.
Nvidia Shield K1

I like reading on them.

>sensors starting to break
Same thing here. I think the last OTA was actually busted and it'll never be fixed now. Maybe it's finally time to switch to LineageOS on it.
Just buy a small laptop: loads more 'power', parts much easier to replace, etc.

Surface Pro with 3:2 screen.

The shield k1 is not really comparable in terms of comfort. It's larger, thicker and heavier, not nearly as comfortable to hold and read with.
The nexus 7 hit a magical sweet spot with its 7 inches, and it's lightness. Haven't found anything that compares.

reading on a tablet is way more comfy then a bulky laptop

as a Shield owner can confirm. That is brilliant for raw performance but to use it for long periods, you're going to get a stand for it and play with a controller. My girlfriend however can read on her Nexus 7 for hours without a problem

Lenovo TAB2 A10 ZA000001US 10.1-Inch with ARM chip
Though I wouldn't recommend it to most /g/ents, the basic kindle fire is a great deal for any /lit/erati interested in a cheap tablet for reading.

>have few practical sues besides
>exactly what I want a dedicated device for
I don't even care how over priced it is, I have a nexus7 2013 as well, and I can feel it being slow trying to browse 4chan, use streaming sites, and the usb connector is shot, so I can no longer load ebooks on it from my computer.
I use google drive because I'm forced to, but it's a bitch.
Asus Zenpad 3s 10
An iPad is really the best thing you can get. The sooner you realize it, the better.

Get out of /g/.

Too bad android apps look like shit in 4:3 aspect ratio screens.
I'm on the same boat. Would love to have a replacement to this chink Cube i6 with its horrid battery life. All I want is at least 9 american centimeters and expandable storage. The Lenovo tablets looks fine, I just want to read some mango.

iPad.
Has the best screen of any tablet out there, construction is sturdy, and the App ecosystem isn't total shit.
Yes, it costs money, but it's worth it.
>>58906761
How's Reicast run on it? My N7 2013 trips up on heavier shit and also has issues with simultaneous BT/WiFi (input lag)

>nexus 7
I had this and had to give it away. It was slower than fuck

You must be poor.
I stream everything to it. There is no need to have expendable storage.

8inches is still too small. The Cube i6 is almost 10 american centimeters and I feel it's great as it's practically size of most printed mango.

I have a Kindle HD 8, perfect for reading, watching videos, and streaming. Still have stock apps installed, those suck, just don't know what good programs to download. Did sideload it with Google Play though.
I'm writing this comment from a TM101W625L I bought at Sam's Club for $150. Other than the low screen resolution (1280x800), it's pretty good. Quad core atom that turbos to 1.8GHz, 2GB of RAM, and a micro SD card slot. Runs Visual Studio well enough for me to program on it.

Dude... Share your files on your LAN and copy them with X-plore. How did you not think of this way?

800 pixels short edge is fucking unusable these days.

How's build quality compared to the ChiPads (Chuwi/Cube/Teclast/Onda)?
>>58907847
It's plenty enough for what I need it to do, although I'll readily admit I would have liked a higher pixel density
>>58907878
I haven't used any of those, but the build quality to me seems pretty good. Most of the construction is metal, and it's definitely better made than my previous table (Thinkpad Tablet 2). The keyboard has a sort of springloaded connector that it seems doesn't press hard enough against the tablet receiver, because it'll sometimes drop out if you move the screen, but otherwise the build seems pretty good.
>>58907953
I've got a Thinkpad Tablet 8 right now (Z3770/2GB/128GB) and it's pretty solid.
You run any games on there? Interested to see how Dreamcast emulation is specifically.
>>58904572
I used to have one of those until the microusb broke
great 1080p tablet
>>58907616
Dell venue 8 pro is nice size but reading manga on it too frequently made my eyes hurt.
since phones are getting almost to the size of tablets, there is no point to getting one now

Are you bribing me, sir?
Asus zenpads my senpai
I got 2 of those for free from work (we don't use them anymore, so I got some old ones) and I have to say if you run Marshmallow on them they run like little monsters
>>58906705
It's not.
The fact that you can't find a decent Android tablet anymore is a sign that its time to give up and just get an iPad.
>>58906632
I find the opposite, but that's how it goes.
I have this and I love it. Taking it to class and having 2 USB ports , 1 USB C 3.0 port ,sdcard slot , and a 16:10 ratio is pretty nice for mango
Why are there so many homosexuals in this thread?
>>58904572
I'm dreading the day my Nexus 7 starts to bite the dust; the more I have it around, the more uses I find for it. I don't want chink shit.
>>58906050
This. I will use mine until the day it dies.
>>58907765
I have the same tablet, got it during the Black Friday deals, love it. Did you notice the battery life took a hit after Google Play was loaded on it?
>>58909445
They know a true cocksucker like you would end up in the thread so they made sure they were here
