I'm considering a switch from Gmail as well but I can't decide between Protonmail or Tutanota or others like openmailbox.
Protonmail seems kinda sketchy with the ddos attacks; while tutanota is based in Germany.
I'd go with cock.li if there were any non-offensive addresses.
