I use Firefox because of TreeStyleTabs but I am so fucking sick of memory leaks and it taking its sweet as time to launch. But I can't browse with horizontal tabs anymore. It just feels so wrong.
>>

>people who use these are so detached from society that they don't care about images or formatting

So... there are a few limited uses for a browser like this. My router... it has an http server that is only accessible from within the internal network. If I want to manage things like port forwarding, I have to do so from that http server. Typically, I'd do that from a web browser, but say I'm away from home. Maybe I want to open up a new server on my Raspberry Pi and make it visible to the outside. I might SSH into the Pi, use Lynx to communicate with the router's web interface, and forward the port to the Pi.

Not something you should use on an every day basis, but I'm sure there might be a few other niche uses for the tool.

For everyday usage I use Firefox on Linux. Doesn't really give me a lot of trouble.

total fucking scam tier, the first is infested with ads, the second is literally malware

i'd like to see some yandex and uc features in normal browsers though, for example UC is great at night browsing, much better than those half-assed userstyles

also there's MIUI browser for lagdroid, it's based on UC, but doesn't have ads, so it's quite fine. The problem is, it only runs on MIUI which is a bloated and bugged botnet itself.

considering the fact that any other browser would take up 300MB of RAM to browse wikipedia, lynx is a very sensible choice for specific use cases. for instance, I use it to watch youtube without running any non-free javascript - simply define mpv as a link handler for youtube links. much, much faster and less resource intensive than watching or even browsing youtube in a graphical browser and doesn't run any JS

that's the same tax-evasion bullshit that Google does with Irish law etc.

All the email is located in Russia and is under Russian laws. I checked jurisdiction when I signed up. I also occasionally check where my mail client is connecting to. It was Russian IP every time I checked.

I used to have an email based in Switzerland but Swiss started to cooperate heavily with the US and singed a bunch of secret agreement and this public one:

http://www.silicon.co.uk/security/swiss-us-privacy-shield-eu-202995

Switzerland is now compromised and don't use anything based in Switzerland. That includes Protonmail as they're not excluded from Swiss law.

Swiss also approved this:
http://www.jurist.org/paperchase/2016/09/switzerland-voters-approve-new-surveillance-law.php

Swiss email hosting is kill. If you use it, don't feel like it's safe.

Germany was never NSA-proof (they cooperate with NSA as Snowden showed) and FBI routinely gets warrants approved in Germany and the rest of the EU... so those are not options either.

Real options are either Russia or China. Due to great firewall of China, it's best to use Russian services.

It was developed jointly by KDE and Apple. Apple couldn't just run away with the code since it was GPL'd. So Apple had to work with KDE.

You can search your history in any browser

It won't search the content of webpages.

Would still be trivial to find.

Sure. Okay, go on. Someone here on /g/ asked something about samsung hue about half a year ago. Then someone else suggested a better controller. Give me the name of that controller.

Go.

You're willingly giving up basic human rights.

What is your opinion on using youtube-dl for this?
>>
>>58927155
I don't know who should feel sorry for who. You willingly inconvenience yourself to have better privacy. You are the one deliberately limiting your options on being able to backtrack your own activities.

You have to write everything down. I have everything written down for me.
>>
>>58927200
I should definitely be the one feeling bad for you.
I've yet to inconvenience myself in the name of privacy. I merely happen to use options that are good for privacy. Regardless I'd rather inconvenience myself than lose my privacy.

mpv automagically detects and uses youtube-dl handlers if you pass it a youtube (or other streaming video) URL
to use mpv/youtube-dl in lynx, make your ~/.lynx.cfg look like this:
INCLUDE:/etc/lynx.cfg
EXTERNAL:http:mpv %s:TRUE
EXTERNAL:http:youtube-dl %s:TRUE

then in lynx press . to run a handler on a selected link or , to run it on the current page

You do realise why some browsers have multiple processes listed right? Because each tab gets its own to avoid crashing the whole browser if one fucks up.

Chromium is the open source project which Chrome is based on. It used to have none/very little of the botnet features of Chrome, but now they are nearly indistinguishable.
