I have an i5-750 still and games run great because I upgraded my graphics card. CPU doesn't need to be upgraded until there's a huge leap in technology.

GPUs and especially GPUs don't improve that rapidly anymore, and newer games are designed to work on a wide range of systems. if they only ran on high-end computers they'd lose a ton of potential costumers.

W5580 in a Dell Precision T3500 here. 3.2GHz quad core, 12GB RAM, and a HD7870 for graphics on a 1920x1200 display. Honestly I don't know what everyone's on about, it works fine for what I need and then some.
