They've got their uses. It was nice when I lived with my parents and was car shopping because I could just bring it upstairs and hand my dad a screen. Plus I can just toss it in my pocket, can't do that with a laptop. Being able to whip out a device that runs desktop software without having to carry a bag or anything is pretty great. Main use now is for BOINC but I still grab it here and there when going to a friend's house or other stuff.

Pretty handy for reading and editing pdfs desu. Great for school, have all my textbooks on there. Don't need anything fancy but a bigger screen size helps imo. The closest to the size of what an actual textbook page would be best

Had 7 android tablets, all of them crap. ( rooting, no updates...etc ) Bought a venue 8 pro when it came out ( 4 or 5 years ago ), love it. Great quallity, still 90% of original battery life ( 7-8 hours ) updates all the time. Can run android shit if needed. ( if somebody cares ) Use it to browse, shitpost, and best thing when traveling abroad. Have a galaxy 10.1 lte for the kids, not a bad device, but also not comfortable to hold when reading.

What should I look for? Do I need a really good screen? Do I need a stylus for notes taking? Writing on a screen keyboard is too slow for me.

I swapped one into my car's center console in place of a radio head unit. Even a phablet would be way too small for that. It's also a simpler alternative to building a carputer and then mounting a separately purchased touchscreen. Unfortunately I think the tablet screen is already starting to get a bit wonky from the temperature variations.

almost 100% of what I use it for, except for some occasional youtube videos.
It's an old, dirt cheap kindle fire and there are lots of thing that suck about it, but with the amount of use I get out of it I can't justify the price of a new 10-inch tablet (if anyone has recs please let me know).

I want to get one to try and run Ubuntu on it just because they're so light. Probably wont work well but it's tempting.

I'm looking for a windows tablet with a good digitizer and stylus to take notes during work.

I'm working as a project engineer at different factories and need a tablet for easy way to take notes and add tags to each note.

What would you guys recomend?

I have been looking at the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 because I've heard a lot of great things about it's stylus and screen, but I think I would be better off with a windows tablet.

13-inch Lenovo replaced my university text books and I use it for reading most materials students get - powerpoint presentations, pdf files, etc. Also: browsing web while lying on the couch

and a simple built-in projector was handy for watching movies

I only use my phone for general phone use and as a remote for my HTPC, where the form factor obviously works well. I only browse or read or some shit like that if I'm not at home, in which case the phone is the only thing I have with me.

I have a Windows tablet, I use it as a general tablet at home, on business trips where taking my laptop isn't worth it and whenever I need an actual computer but can't use my desktop for some reason. Phones are just too small to actually do anything on them beyond tapping at it for a few minutes at a time.

I'm not up to date on new Windows tablets, I have an Asus T100TA, it was a pretty low cost model. Works fine for me, but it has a few issues. The screen is only 1366x768, it's not great even at 10" and it sometimes has some stability issues when connecting/disconnecting the keyboard/dock and on 2.4GHz WiFi.
