Webms seem to be extremely niche to be fair. Most sites that have gifs or "gifs" such as gfycat and imgur can serve either webms or mp4's (or even straight up bulky gifs) depending on the device/browser making the request.

I would prefer if mp4 won completely and we gave up on webm since we already have hardware acceleration for mp4 in so much hardware.
