Thoughts on this desk for my X34? I want an L-shaped desk that is deeper than 24 inches bc of the x34's awkward stand. That will be fairly sturdy and cheap.

also general desk thread, I don't wanna build my own and I dont wanna go ikea becasue it costs 100 dollars to ship to where I live

thanks but per amazon answered questions about this desk

>The desk stands 28 inches high. The short end of the desk is the side without the shelves. It is 32 inches long and 15.75 inches wide. The long end of the desk is the side with the shelves and it is 52.5 inches long and 19.75 inches wide. Both shelves are 13 inches high and 11.5 inches wide. I hope this helps some.

so its not nearly deep enough for my x34.

I have a malm bed actually (love it)

would it be worth it to buy 2 malm desks that match my bed and make them into an L? after $100 shipping total cost would be $400
>>

it seems kind of flimsy - which is not a great property of something which you intend to hold a 1000+$ product
i do, however, appreciate its cable management holes, despite their odd placements
if you buy this desk OP, go to local hardware store, get some 2x2's and reinforce the frame in the back (where the monitor's weight will be placed), or consider adding some crossmembers on the legs

in my humble opinion, no product is worth buying if you "have to" modify it to fit your needs. obviously hobby modding is fine.
there's my 2 cents, best of luck OP

im not really hard on my furniture, you really think this desk cant hold an x34, mouse, keyboard, and occasionally my work laptop without modification?

currently I am using the desk Ive had since I was a kid (its a small 24inchx40inch wood desk part of a whole bedroom set I got when I was 5, Ive replaced the bed and nightstand with ikea malm, but I still have the desk and dresser) although this desk is small, it is rock fucking solid, but its stained and the panels are drifting further apart due to moisture and I just want a desk that can hold my computer and still have enough room to do homework on it.

The tower will still go under.

>Laminate top
>black
Horrible combo, that black laminate shit is paper thin and will peel revealing the shit ply wood underneath making your desk look like garbage.

I have a Sauder clone of the MALM desk because fuck going to IKEA.

>>58872431
That sounds like a colossal waste of space. What do you even need the L for?

Try checking Walmart for a MALM clone if you don't want to ship.
>>
>>58872431
Might be cool. You can match the Malm with the pullout shelf and the normal drawer one. Though it may be better to look for a real corner L desk
>>
>>58872822
i agree fuck ikea

but the only sauder that met my needs was 150lbs and costs 500 dollars
>>
I built my own desk and it ended up being a little bit flimsy. If you can brace it up against a wall or a something on two sides you're probably fine. I doubt it will collapse but you may be wary about it wobbling as you are typing. Its not game breaking but it is a lot nicer typing and mousing on a desk that doesn't shake as you're using it.
>>
The desk at 28" may also be a bit short - standard desk height is 30" and small changes are very noticeable.
>>

my current desk is 29 inches tall
>>
>>58873080

How do you configure it with your monitor and keyboard? If you move those up and down some it can be different. Also chair matters.
>>
>>58873180

its a kids desk, so it is small as hell.

i have a steelcase leap

keyboard is at very front edge of desk

back of x34 stand is about 3/4 inch away from back of desk (24 inch deep)

I lift my chair up and down and the monitor up and down (the stand is adjustable) to suit my comfort.

What's the wobble from, uneven legs, loose legs?
>>
>>58872274
>sharp edges, not wood

not good
>>
>>58873223

In my desk the wobble is from flimsy metal. Its basically a metal frame built out of
http://www.homedepot.com/p/Superstrut-1-5-8-in-Wide-x-13-16-in-High-x-10-ft-Long-14-Gauge-Metal-Framing-Channel-Gold-Galvanized-ZB1400HS-10/100164315
with a sheet of plywood on top. Turns out that these things, while metal, can twist quite a bit. All the wobble stems from that I think. The joints also just use a single l bracket with three bolts total, not actually giving much strength on the joints.
>>
I'm currently thinking about getting a beech countertop, ~2m length, 80cm deep as a desk. Just have to find some decent, sturdy legs and how to space them so that the top doesn't bow or wobble
>>
>>58872274
You paid way too much. Could have just bought 2 Ikea table tops for $30 and a set of legs and just put them together.
>>
>>58874088
ikea is $100 just to ship, plus i read their limmnon tops were shit
