>>
cause muh botnet

I use it for saving my projects and documents it is alright if botnet can see it its not like they care much.
>>
I use it. It's amazing and it has made our life at small offices great. But, I would never put something up there that Google shouldn't be seeing.
>>
I encrypt ev including filenames. Very fast, I personally max out speeds

Don't tell yourself problems just to give up on something

Google
>>

How does it compare to Dropbox and OneDrive?
>>
>>58860492
because its desktop integration is sloppy
>>
It doesn't have a desktp client for Linux
>>
>google photos can't properly keep insync with gdrive

Dropbox is better in this regard
>>
>>58860492
Why wouldn't you use nextcloud?
>>
I wanted to use owncloud and have a home server but my jew genes tell me I would spend to much in electricity

I even have the spare hardware
>>
>>58860492
How does google use drive for making money? Do you they just scan your documents for keywords to shill later?
>>
>>58863640
if you're already running a home server how would installing owncloud use more electricity?
>>
>>58863649
dense

>>58863647
they sell access to your data to governments around the world. they charge a lot of money when some gov agency requests you data and they have to provide it.
>>
>>58863649
I'm not running a home server yet, but I'm thinking about it just to use owncloud
>>
>>58863728
why not run a VPS on like digital ocean or something?
>>
>>58860492
You should unless you're the next Edward Snowden or using it to store cheese pizza.

I prefer dropbox simply because the UI feels cleaner. If you need more than 2 free gb it won't suit your needs though.
>>
>muh botnet

literally who cares

you can just encrypt everything before you upload it

Honeypot.

Why would I want to let Google (or a hacker) read my sensitive documents?
>>
Maybe a stupid question, but how do you guys use Drive or Dropbox? Only in browser (click and drag files to upload?) Or do you use the desktop versions? If the latter, do you duplicate the files on your PC, or just use the drive folder as your default file folder?
>>
>>58865121
I just upload encrypted .7z archives through my browser
>>
>>58863568
Good question. I dont use either, but I have like 30GB of storage from Google that I never use.

Can I upload warz to it?
>>
>>58863568
It has more space than dropbox but I like dropbox better because of privacy and Linux app

Because Nextcloud exists and is superior in every way and doesn't compromise your privacy to the botnet.
>>
>>58867883
A Western Digital green would use less than that unless it's under constant load.
>>
>>58868957
even better then

Why should I give a fuck what you use and don't?
>>

Doesnt want to show Google his feminine penis
>>
I got another question, does anybody use the infinite space for pictures? It asked me if I want to do it, I guess it lets you put as much pics and videos on it as you want but they lose quality (and bonnet can look at your vacation pictures). Can some tell if there is a big quality loss in the media? Is it worth it?
>>
>>58869412
If you're using a cell phone camera then it's absolutely fine, no question about it
>>
>>58869527
Okay thx, my shitty phone pics should be safe then
>>
It sucks shit and I hate that I have to still use it for school, especially since the library computers don't have WinSCP for accessing files on the schools SSH server, where I host most of my files. I will probably take all my files off it soon and delete it.
>>
>>58860492
Google is part of NSAs surveillence program PRISM. Look it up.
>>
>>58860492
Because the upload rate is abysmal.

Funny how you can tell how great a service is by the amount of storage you start off with. Yahoo is throwing storage at people. You get 1 TB right now. I thought it was a mistake at first, but nope. Meanwhile, Dropbox is nowhere near that. I understand why. I have 1 TB usage on Yahoo, but refuse to use it.

Speaking of that...

>Google Drive or Dropbox?

I use Google Drive for a lot of documents and such, but what about Dropbox? Any benefits to it? I had Dropbox Professional a few years ago and the storage was too much, but it was an alright service. I dropped it because Google Drive integrated better and Dropbox started forcing Carousel(?) onto users without permission. I didn't even know I had an account until they notified me that they created one for me.

Google drive just werks.
But not gonna use it anymore
