I actually think that was the best iPhone design ever.
The only thing that aged is the proportion of the thickness and size, which make it look awkwardly thick by today's standards.

The coolest part of that, was being able to change the back cover into something like pic related.

4S was amazing, I'd still use it.

This is nothing compared to all those Winamp skins in the early 2000s.
I can't find a picture of it, but when I was 11 I had this sick af skin that was round with rotating blades all around it (it was a weapon from some movie) that did all those animations and it was the pinnacle of what technology could ever offer me.
Also other ones themed like movies (I remember having Riddick and I Robot ones) and random stuff.
I'm not even cringing.

No, 2G/3G/3GS are the only iPhone designs which still look gorgeous. I bought a 3GS 6 months ago to use with the sim from my home country, my Z3C broke and now I use the 3GS alone, and I love every minute of it. It has a browser, it can do facebook messenger (in the browser.) Battery life's still great because no bloat. What more do you need?

I wanted one once but they fucked up by giving their users no clear message about how the updates will be handled and which devices will get updates. At that time people bought some of these devices for a few hundred bucks and then it turned out to be not possible to install the latest Windows on it. I then bought something else.

But I really like the approach they did, it's like widgets in android, but appearantly thought through. And it's not as useless as simple icons.

But no app is written for that purpose on android (I suppose we're talking android now). The only proper workaround would be a launcher crammed with widgets by each app that give information and open up the apps main menu when being tapped once.
Otherwise you get nothing out of it, other than the looks on stills. The thing about these tiles is that they're dynamic. They are meant to show what's inside the app without having to open the app up. Android apps aren't created with such a thing in mind.
