Opinions on Telegram? Or any other suggested secure chatting program? Anything that's encrypted and, preferably, multiplatform (desktops in addition to phones).
I'd like to use Signal, but it's only on Android, iOS, and Chrome store; the Android version requires Google Play services (kinda defeats the point), and Chrome store apps only run on Chrome (double defeats the point).

Anything with OTR.
Protocols: IRC or XMPP
Clients: Pidgin or irssi
Servers: any, including efnet, ircnet, rizon for IRC, and jabber.at for XMPP
Check out wire aswell.

Wire looks REALLY good, but I'm a bit bummed by the "protected by EU law" bit. Then again, I have a ProtonMail account.
Looks better than Telegraph since it at least has the encryption algos up on GitHub.
