I have an old Dish-TV dish lying around, should I bother building a wifi satellite out of it or just buy something like https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003CFATOW/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2L77EE7U53NWQ ?
The only build I can find of it online is :

Just trying to grab wifi from long distance.

I wish I had one of those antennas but UK bro here. Also, as I satellite enthusiast, do you people still use the large cband dishes?
i remember i was going to build a wifi version. but i believe it can only reach about a mile, never built it tho.

yeah they had a lot of luck in the middle of nowhere but I imagine distance isn't as good in city/surburbs. Its why I'm wondering if its even worth it to bother doing a build over just buying a pre-made dish for 50 bucks.

i wish i remember the equipment needed to build it, i dont think it was too hard to do it yourself assuming the had the parts or patience
yeah probably not, buildings and shit might fuck up from getting signal, but who knows.

Alternatively you could make your own radar, for instance a weather radar.
