Help /g/. My Inspiron 1546 laptop's battery died and I got a new one. I turned off my laptop and inserted the battery into the laptop to charge while it's off for 3 hours and when I tried to boot the laptop without the AC plugged in, it didn't boot and when I booted with the AC battery icon says "77% not charging" and if I unplug the AC the laptop goes off. What do?
Anyone?
It could be a shit replacement, or there could be something wrong with the charging circuit on your laptop. You need to have someone take a look at it in person.
You bought a shit battery. Did you get it second hand or refurbished??
Dell uses extra security measures that ensure you can't use any cheap aftermarket batteries or chargers. If your charger loses its 3rd pin you will be able to turn it on, but it will not charge batteries, and will run the CPU at its lowest possible frequency. As for the battery, if its not genuine dell, it will show the charge level, but will not do anything else.

It was supposed to be a 'good Chinese' battery.
