I don't really know much about operating systems at all and in the last year i have been building up a pc for the first time. I always assumed everyone just used windows or whatever but i hear people on here talk about linux.
I guess my main question is what is the best operating system and why? Is there a technical best or is it just a matter of opinion?

For gaming, Windows. For nerding out, Linux.
I have a gaming addiction so it looks like windows is where i am staying

No amount of rehab is saving me from video game addiction. It's a way of life at this point. When something becomes a lifestyle it's much more difficult to change

Linux is for sysadmins, programmers, servers and tools for security testing. It is by no means a desktop OS so don't be tricked into installing a meme.
Use Windows like normal people and you will save yourself years of heartache and therapy.
