Is it possible to keep a laptop running forever?
No, due to heat death of the universe ;(
>>58829729
Heat death is the least of the problems for anything, it'll take billions of years to achieve heat death
>>58829729
What about until then? I want my laptop to live to see that ):
>>58829746
well you'll probably need to run your OS from a RAM disk since disks will usually eventually die
Aside from that idk. Sometimes it's really best to just let your laptop go; you might be being selfish by keeping it alive for too long. When you're ready to make that decision is when you truly become an adult.

btw I'm a guy that sleeps with his laptop right next to his head in bed and powered on fully (not sleep mode) since 2005
>>58829766
What if I keep replacing the discs for the rest of my life?
Heat death isn't real because physics is a lie and propellantless thrust works.

So my laptop can live forever?
>>58830183
It isn't alive.
>>58830250
If its not alive how woudl I be posting right now?
Lets find out!

Posted from my Gateway laptop made in 2008 purhased in early 2009
Laptops don't last anymore because QA has actually regressed since the mid oughts. Normies/mainstream ruin everything
>>58829729
Heat death is a myth. There's no proof that this will happen.
I leave my memepad on all day with hard drives, wifi and screen and everything set to power down or low energy mode after certain time. Cpu core runs at 45c° ish which is good enough for a laptop.
>>58832597
Oh and it's been running like this for 2 years, laptop was manufactured in 2013 and i've had it for 3 years. no issues whatsoever other than the occasional need for a reboot.

>He doesn't have a model 1859 thinkpad that his great grandpappy kept running so his descendants could shitpost on tech forums.
kids these days I swear
>>58832550
its called planned obsolescence, not sure how long a laptop COULD last for, but parts inside will definitely die
>>58829718
if you mean on, better off with a desktop, laptops are not made for constant use.
>>58830741
>tfw you still have to restart for hardware changes

These weebs, I swear.
caps/fan/hdd/psu are probably going to be the parts that fail first.
Ive been running my netbook 900ha for three years on and off as a server, and it still runs like a champ.

With a USV instead of or in addition to its internal battery it's certainly possible.
