oh wow, i thought i was the only retard using puppy, it's the GOAT distro for all i care, literally made me abandon windows and most "serious" distros too
>>58828164
what version of puppy you use familia ?
>>58828063
>>58828183
tahr and puppyrescue if shit goes really south, i've had some HDD issues so i've been running liveboot for a few weeks now and i've just now realized how stupidly optimized puppy is, personally i find it more usable than ubuntu and arch and the GUI has this humble charm to it that i find lacking in modern windows vista aesthetic ripoffs, kind of like a throwback to 2002 or something
>>58828293
It really is maximum comfy
>>58828317

>Puppy Linux
-Little to no support for graphics card drivers
-Can't download / install most packages available in the Linux community
-Can't even install WINE
I used to be obsessed with optimizing too but that OS is shit. Try something slightly more beefy like Mint or Lubuntu
>>58828418
-Little to no support for graphics card drivers
It detected my gpu instantly and it runs just fine with 3d acceleration
-Can't download / install most packages available in the Linux community
This is simply not true. Tahrpup is binary compatible with all Ubuntu Trusty Tahr packages
-Can't even install WINE
See above
The only other distros I would consider for this pc is maybe gentoo or arch.

>Mint or Lubuntu
>implying that bloated shit would run decently on a Duron from another century
>>58828514
OP Here.
Lubuntu might but mint certainly won't.
>>58828534
You could use Mint with LXDE and would be roughly the same, it runs, but not like Puppy.
*buntu is bloated
I might attempt Debian with GNOME 2 or LXDE in a computer like that.
>>58828671
I was thinking about trying gentoo or maybe arch (because gentoo compile times would be slow as hell) Although Ive had bad experiences with arch in the past.
>>58828795
If you like to spend 90% of the time fixing your computer instead of using it, then by all means.
>>58828826
Yea and also arch is dropping support for 32bit so I guess my only choice would be to use binary-only gentoo or something.
