tahr and puppyrescue if shit goes really south, i've had some HDD issues so i've been running liveboot for a few weeks now and i've just now realized how stupidly optimized puppy is, personally i find it more usable than ubuntu and arch and the GUI has this humble charm to it that i find lacking in modern windows vista aesthetic ripoffs, kind of like a throwback to 2002 or something

This is simply not true. Tahrpup is binary compatible with all Ubuntu Trusty Tahr packages

You could use Mint with LXDE and would be roughly the same, it runs, but not like Puppy.
