Hello,
Lately I've been shopping around for a new PC and I've noticed some manufactures offer some strange configurations. For example, some offer hugely expensive graphics cards ($4k+), 200+gb of RAM, etc. I'm wondering, what are these for, exactly? What would I be doing that I need this much RAM?
I play some simple games, so these aren't for me, but is this the direction PC gaming is heading? I mean, I remember when I saw the Nvidia Titan and thought, ''damn, 6gb VRAM?''
You can play anything at any settings at 1080p for well under $800

I understand that, but I'm asking what are these extreme settings for? Am I looking at something like an industrial machine or is there really common uses for this kind of power now?

>200+gb of RAM
more than likely not a gaming-oriented calculator
probably a dedicated chrome PC, but that's not a lot of tabs
>>58823769
that sounds like a deal targeted to procurement offucers at university physics departments or animation studios

Such machines exist within the realm of submarine design, with an unbelievably minute amount of data to process and detail to render

Those are not insane specs for rendering 4K 3D graphics, for example. (Meaning film/TV graphics work, not playing games.)
If you're confused by this, make sure you're in the "for home" section of the Dell website.
