>>58817647
it's a fucking tv.
get a vga monitor you pleb
>>58817647
CRT makes very bad monitors, and you're gonna be stuck with 800x600 at best
I have this oldass Vistapoint 80hz monitor that i got out of the trash.
It is infinitely better than the shitty lcd tv I was using before. yeah, the resolutions smaller but that wasn't really a problem for me pre-2010
>>58817859
>you're gonna be stuck with 800x600 at best
nigger you what? Mine has 1024x768 native
>>58817837
>>58817859
dont assume monitor, i want it as a tv
>>58817869
What model?
my parents had a 32" Wega, 1024 looked like shit, and the text was unreadable in most cases. Had to lower it to 800 to make it usable.
>>58817647
>154W
my entire PC + monitor don't even reach half that
>>58817910
lol. Old Sony CRTs use 275 watts
>>58817647
What country uses 240V mains but also spells color as color instead of colour?
>>58817859
My last CRT did 1280x1024@85hz. Just saying.
>>58818178
I was referring to TVs being used as monitors. sorry for the mixup
Pinkstation reporting in!

GET THE FUCK BACK HERE WANKERS!
>>58818313
I hate this fucking shit board!
/g/ is slow today
>>58817647
dumb question, are CRTs 120hz by default or what?
>>58818937
Depends what frequency your line mains is.
I bought a 13'' Panasonic CRT from Salvation Army for $5 to play Super Smash Bros Melee on my gamecube.
The built in vcr had a copy of Die Hard 2 in it, tv works amazing, never had a problem. An overall win
>>58817786
I own a KV32-FV310 and a 36-FV310. Paid $25 for the 32
Protip, check Goodwills near upper-class areas and git gud

I want to get a large-screen diamondtron
>>58819066
I have a 22" back at my house.
2560x2048@54Hz
Have to run it in fglrx x
Windows soft caps 2560x1600 for VGA
>>58819000
wtf is this bullshit.
>>58818937
no.
I would be cool to see some modern CRT that has better contrast than old crt's.
The idea of using something that doesn't use real material pixels is cool to me.
>tfw new gpu doesnt have an analog output
>tfw i literally had to downgrade my monitor because of "new" tech
Maybe ill switch to amd if they support analog in their next cards.
>>58819086
If you don't even know what line mains frequency is then you don't deserve on of the worlds finite dwindling CRT displays.
>>58819101
Google SED
>>58819117
That is why I got a 980ti instead of a 1070 or 1080.
>>58819133
I had a 980ti but i had to RMA it and they gave me a 1070 as a replacement. And when i emailed them about it they told me to get a new monitor.
>>58819122
I know what mains frequency is, and it has nothing to do with vertical scan rate.
btw SED is a matrix of tubes and therefore has "real material pixels"
>>58819101
crt's do kinda use pixels sorta, or at least something that resembles pixels
difference being is that they can be upscaled/downscaled much better due to how they work and don't really have a native resolution, aside from the number of lines
>>58818937
they support wide range of frequencies, depending on coils inside and resolution
Why my crt isnt working?
>>58819329
you might want to connect the power cord brul.
Trinitron master race. I sold my pc and I want to try plug old PS3 into my glorious CRT. Can i buy some chink convertor? How would you do it?
>>58819933
ps3 to vga then vga to BNC?
>>58819958
BNC has the VGA male on it already, any trick for the HDMI to go to VGA, I've read its pain, scaling is shit, plus the sound will be a problem. And im not keen on spending more for hdmi to vga convertor then ive paid for the whole crt...
Maybe PS2 would be easier?
>>58820202
no dude use the AV connector
>>58820287
Pls forgive senpai,i am such a pleb, its old tech and i havent messed much around AV technology. How do I plug the PS2 AV cable,? It has 3 pins and here are 5
>>58819117
just get an adapter for analog to digital
>>58820390
Could you link how thst loojs like or type out what to search for?
>>58820417
just buy your pc back already
>>58820426
Next winter, I will go full paycheck on a build :)

>>58817647
how the fuck do I get an external 400+ MHz DAC going on a new-ish GPU?
It seems like every DP->VGA adapter out there is garbage.
Does any manufacturer still put a DAC and a DVI-I port on their new cards?
>>58817647
I was tempted to get a CRT TV in order to play PS1 games on hardware again. Then I remembered how fuckhuge and heavy and power-guzzling they are, and scratched that idea.
I might still make an (RGB+sync-on-composite)->VGA adapter. Apparently I need to chain several filters and ICs, and would need to verify that I have a monitor that can accept 240p.
>>58821503 (Me)
I think sync-on-luma (using the svideo Y signal) works too. The pinout info for the PS1 seems a bit inconsistent but it probably makes sense to get sync from the least busy comp signal.
