The tech industry would so much more balanced if amd wasn't competing on to two fronts prove me wrong

CPU & GPU architectures are still the same (Polaris), and they still suck in comparison to Intel & Nvidia.

>He thinks that AMD only competes in two market segments
If not for their GPUs, wouldn't they be gone now?
>>58815760
No. Microsoft and Sony needs AMD for cheap console APUs so they send financial injections from time to time through daughter companies.

Intel competes on like 5+ fronts
>CPUs
>Flash/NV memory
>Accelerators, like knights landing shit
>FPGAs
>Compilers
Am I missing anything?
>>58815740
nvidias only good because of ex ati employees
>>58815836
intel can only do that because they dominate the cpu segment
ati and nvidia market share was near 50/50 before being brought by amd look where it is now
>>58815992
Marketshare only dropped after buttcoin started rolling, because the shitheads who do the metrics on that don't count HPC, which includes buttcoin. 290X's were flying off the shelves for months, to the point where scalpers were selling them for $800 each, but has less than a percent on the steam hardware shit.
AMD still made boatloads of money off it, but consumers never got the cards.

>prove me wrong
Okay. Listen, ATI is still very much a thing inside AMD.
The ATI guys don't like the AMD people very much, even after all this years the merge is far from complete.
The two tried to collaborate in stuff like the APU platform (now pretty much dead).
There are even rumors about AMD splitting and letting "Radeon" be its own thing.
Don't you think is a little bit weird that in CES there were Ryzen builds with Nvidia GPUs, and Vega builds with Intel CPUs?
Don't you think AMD would have at least the decency to support itself and only show full AMD systems?
The answer is that they don't really like each other.

well lets explain this to you
amd used titan x when showing off ryzen partially as a known factor mostly because if the graphics fucked up its on nvidia not amd and the only thing pushing this cpu to its fullest was nvidia at the time
The reason intel is in vega is again, to give you the ability to only focus on vega, not speculate on 'if they used intel it would have been better" or "look amds cpu sucks and vega cant be driven right"
The only time I would put ryzen and vega together is when one of them is released, because you are well passed put up or shut up time then.

When will Nvidia get into CPU manufacturing for PC's?
We NEED competition desperately.
