when a game system requirements say i need "Graphics: 384 MB of RAM" do they mean overall memory or dedicated memory?

i have:
Total Available Graphics Memory: 2132 MB
Dedicated Video Memory: 128 MB
System Video Memory: 0 MB
Shared System Memory: 2004 MB

do i meet the requirements?

and when they say "Graphics: 512MB Video Memory" do they mean something else when it's "video memory" instead of "ram"?

At which point do programming languages leave the basics and start getting into the "real shit" of the language?

The dedicated vRAM is what matters.

RAM = memory. Video memory = vRAM

Your graphics card (gpu) is supposed to have its own ram, just like your cpu.

What do you mean by the "real shit"?

In most languages, after learning about arrays you can already do most anything of the real shit, most of what you'll learn after arrays is syntactic sugar.

Programming languages can only do very basic stuff. If by "real shit" you mean heavy mathematics, GUI development, machine learning, etc. then what you're looking for are external libraries.

If you have a password length of 1 how many combinations are there?
I hope it's obvious that it's 26.

So what if the password length is 2?
Then for any of the 26 characters that you put on the first slot you have another 26 characters to put on the second slot.

With this I mean if you type in 'a' you can put any of the 26 characters in front of it. Same thing if you type in 'b', 'c', etc.

And the ammount of possible combinations for that is multiplying the possibilities for the second slot by the ammount of possibilities for the second slot.

In this case that would be 26x26 or 26^2.

The same reasoning applies for any length: you raise the number of characters to the password length.

So for 26 characters and a password length of 6 you would get 26^6 = 308 915 776
>>
>>58814744
I wouldn't recommend any of those.
Birds require a lot of care. They need specific temperature and humidity. They'll die if you cook with teflon. Don't clean with ammonia either. They can't deal with it efficiently like mammals can. You shouldn't anyway, since vinegar, water, and dish soap works well enough as a glass cleaner. YOU HAVE TO CLEAN UP THEIR POOP THEY DROP ALL OVER.

Dogs are annoying because they need to be let outside to piss and shit, and then you need to clean up their shit. And they fart and fan their ass juice everywhere they go. And act like you're their whole world like a clingy boyfriend.

It's not good to have a single cat. Two is better since they need a couple hours of playtime each day to stay healthy. And you still have to pick up their shit unless you can toilet train them or get one of those automatic boxes that doesn't work will and still has you handling shit and brain parasites. It can be very annoying having a cat constantly begging for stuff and getting in your way.

If you do get a pet, find one at an animal shelter. Don't buy from breeders. Mutts tend to have more personality than inbreds.

Hey guys I got a question about Java.
I'm working on a school project regarding health issues.
The idea is simple, Everytime the user clicks, it adds to a counter. When it reaches approx 500 clicks, it will display a health tip.
So is there no way to implement this without clicking on the jPanels? As in it records mouse events outside of my GUI? Some say just create a transparent overlay. Will it be able to click through the jPanel? Another suggestion was to use mouse POS(x,y). Does it register outside of the GUI?
Help is appreciated. Thank you.

Torrents depend on peer-to-peer networking. Your download speed is dependent on the collective upload speed being supplied to you.

What's the easiest way to know what cpu I can upgrade my laptop with?

I've got an older Satellite L45 (circa 2008) that I'd like to breathe some life into. I've ID'd the chipset and current processor specs. Could I just pop anything that fits the socket and meets the current TDP of the processor in, or does the fsb speed need to match?

Got a Pentium T2310 currently, could I theoretically go to a Core 2 Duo T7500 on the same socket that matches all requirements sans FSB speed.

Would like to try it, but don't want to kill the laptop. The processors I'm eyeballing are only 10-15 freedom bucks so that's not too upsetting to trash in the event of failure. Just want to make sure I'm on the right track here.

Whenever you download something, it all depends on where and how much it will put out. Say you download from a website and it upload speed only goes up to 2mb equivalent, then you will only get 2mb from that site no matter how much faster you are.

Since torrents are peer based, it depends on all the peers put together. If the torrent has one seeder and no leechers, and the seeder can only up 700kbs make, then that's all you get.

Extra speed is good none the less because if one place is trying to take your whole download bandwidth, then everything else is going to be slow until you finished. Also helps when there's multiple people connecting.
Something like that anyways. I might be retarded and gave you a wrong answer.

>>
>>58816028
Find another charger. If you got some proprietary port then that kind of sucks for you. Otherwise assuming it's micro or C, just test out another one or test the cable yourself if you can.
Meaning using the cable on another device that uses micro or C.

If the cable is not working, you can probably conclude it's the cable. Unless both happened to be at fault.

The "basics" of a language are core, primitive variable types and the essentials of the language (defining types, methods/functions, classes if relevant).
The "real shit" is the standard library of the language.

Java applications can't capture events outside of them. To do that, you will need a language that can interface more directly with the OS. You can accomplish that in C pretty easily using the WinAPI.

On linux the only one i know it's dolphin, in fact i consider plasma the most complete DE on any OS I have tried and even if it used to be very heavy on resources compared to other DEs on linux (about the same as Windows ) the latest versions has slimmed it a lot. If you want a vanilla and unbloated experience try KDE Neon user edition. If you want much stability as possible use the "LTS user edition" which only ships LTS versions of plasma.

Python can be written very closely to the pseudocode most people produce during design. It's syntax is basic and intuitive meaning complex algorithms can be written quickly from any given pseudo. Python's implementations of strings, lists and dictionaries are great for writing code fast.

pic related, it's the case. It's not supposed to house a GPU at all.

It's long enough and it's tall enough for this card though, the thickness it the problem. The graphic's card is 35mm thick and I'll only have about 15mm to work with on that side. If I change the stand-offs' location and move the motherboard all the way to the left though I'll have some 30mm free on the side which means it might work

I'll have to perforate the sides more and probably the top as well for more ventilation, of course
>>
>>58817431
Literally by unscrewing it. The two standoffs that you screw the DVI cable into screw off just like the standoffs for your motherboard. There's also going to be a nut and bolt holding it onto the PCB itself.
>>
>>58817597
Won't fit. Card cooler is too thick.
>>
>>58817597
From the looks of that, you'll have to cut off the side of the case by the graphics card. You won't be moving that motherboard anywhere, as it will interfere with your HDD/SSD mounting point. Looks like you'll also have make a cutout for the ports on the graphics card on the other side as well.

You might be able to mount the graphics card horizontally with a riser card/cable, depending on how tall the case is and whether you have enough clearance above your CPU cooler. Cutting open the side is a better option, though.

New to C and I am being a retard. Can anyone explain why it wants me to put ; after int main() ?

Sorry if this is a double post, my first post isn't coming up.

include <stdio.h>
int main(int argc, char *argv[])
{
int i;
scanf("%d", &i)
{
if (i > 100)
{
printf("The number is bigger than 100");
}
else
{
printf("The number is not bigger than 100");
}
}
return 0;
}
>>
>>58817597
will not fit, theres no way. you don't even have a slot for the damn card in there. that case is not meant for ANY pci-e cards.

the only possibility is using a pci-e extension but for fucks sake just get a new case
>>
>>58817664
You're missing the "#" for the include preprocessor directive.
>>
>>58817674
It's there. I just didn't select it when I copied the code from my terminal.
>>
best linux distro for programming?
>>
>>58817664
why does your bracketing trigger me
>>
>>58817688
Then the semi-colon after the scanf? After that I dunno.
>>
>>58817643
That's what I'm afraid of
I can always open up the side completely and let it sit a few mm outside the case, but I'll see what I can do before I resort to that

>>58817644
>it will interfere with your HDD/SSD mounting point.
that's not my picture, I don't have any HDD/SSDs so that's not a problem. My cable management is better than the one in the pic too
Obviously I'll have to cut the back as well, yes. I thought about mounting it horizontally and extending the case upwards to make it fit, but that will make both the CPU and the GPU toast very easily
>>
>>58817664
well you're missing a semicolon on the scanf line
>>
>>58817689
They all work the same. I like arch though because Pacman is easy, and it's easy to switch wms for optimal coding
>>
>>58817713
few mm? try two centimeters...
>>
>>58817664
Why do you return 0?
>>
>>58817664
1) Semicolon after scanf
2) Why do you have curly brackets after scanf? You're not entering into a loop, conditional, or function.
>>
>>58816699
Thanks for the suggestion senpai but I managed to comment out bind-ip and change the sql server port (since I have a server on my own OS) and it worked.
>>
>>58817698
I don't know. Tell me what I am doing wrong and I'll try to be less shit.

>>58817700
>>58817716

That worked, thanks. For some reason I thought I had to leave it open for the if else command to work.

>>58817740
>>58817741

It's how I see the code my teacher posts/ my book has it. Assumed you had too.
>>
>>58817724
the card is 68mm thick
>>
>>58817756
Oh well, then 5+ centimeters.
>>
>>58817755
Your brackets are fine. He's just being a bitch because no one can agree rather or not brackets should be on a new line.
>>
>>58817713
>I don't have any HDD/SSDs so that's not a problem.
Then you'll still have to make new holes for motherboard standoffs and extend the hole for its I/O panel. I wouldn't bother with this, just cut a hole for the GPU cooler and its I/O. Which you'd have to do either way if moving the motherboard only gives you 30mm and you need 35mm. Aside from being more susceptible to dust, hanging outside the case won't hurt anything unless you stick things in the fans like a retard.

You can probably make do with cutting away just enough of a hole for the GPU cooler to fit though, rather than cutting away the entire side panel.
>>
>>58817765
Well he did open up a block when there was no logical reason to, although it could've been part of the exercise or whatever.
>>
>>58817756
no, it's 35mm

If I do what I said (move the mobo all the way to the left and remove those plastic things on the right side) I'll gain around 30mm total, hopefully a couple more. Then it's a matter of hoping the remaining 5/4/3mm of the card will be the space between the PCIe slot and the end of the mobo

Someone on my wifi has a chromecast or some sort of device which can be streamed to. Every time theyre home my phone spotify and google chrome videos have this annoying "stream" button. I don't want to stream anything to that persons device. Particularly not if Im watching porn (or anything else for that matter).

It annoys me that there is an option for this. How to turn this option off?
>>
Let's say I have a VPS in the USA. I want to take a raspberry Pi, connect it to a public wifi spot, using the Raspberry Pi as a proxy to torrent through, and saving all the files directly to my storage VPN with sshfs.

If (when) the Raspberry Pi is found, what's the likelihood that the device can be traced back to my own IP address? I assume very high. Only looking to torrent stuff movies here, nothing really illegal (no backpages shit). Am I better off just getting a Ukranian VPS where they don't give a shit about that stuff? I don't really trust VPNs
>>
>>58817794
No. It's a stupid feature Google needs to add a way to disable.
>>
>>58817774
I will give that was triggering
>>
>>58817794
it's just a button, if you don't press it nothing will happen
even if you do it's still got a confirmation dialog

and why not stream porn to it once in a while? It's not like they'll know it's you
>>
>>58817794
Uninstall GApps services. This will remove the libraries needed by apps to broadcast to chromecasts.

It'll also break all your google applications (like gmail) and a ton more besides. As much open source vs. proprietary memery is around, this is actually the true cost. You have to chose between Google's opinions of what's right or yours, and there's no way for you to pick your own middle ground.
>>
>>58817774
>>58817814

Would this be better?

#include <stdio.h>
int main(int argc, char *argv[])
{
int i;

printf("Please enter a integer value: ");
scanf("%d", &i);
{
if (i > 100)
printf("The number is bigger than 100\n");
else
printf("The number is not bigger than 100\n");
}
return 0;
}
>>
>>58817865
No one is judging you. Getting caught up in style is a beginners trap. Learning concepts is the most important thing you can do right now.

But no, that's not better, you removed the wrong brackets.
>>
>>58817865
damn son, you got it upside down, cmon.
{} for if/else (around the printfs).
Lose the {} after scanf and before return.

Hi,

Are there any kaby lake motherboards that is mini-PCIe compatible?

Been planning on buying a new motherboard lately, but don't want to buy a bulky looking wireless card, since I already have one from my laptop lying around.

Any suggestions?
>>
>>58817893
What about one that has built-in whyreless ?

Seagate tends to be a 50/50. probably not worth gamble imo.

I have a 2tb for movie storage that Ive had for about 6 years, no problems other than the usb cord gets fucked after a year or so and I have to buy another.
>>
>>58817907
Too expensive, plus I already have one lying around and would like to make use of it...

yup wvc1 is the codec.
The upscaling can depend on many factors, are you gonna play it in its native resolution or on a higher res? and also it could be that the video itself has been upscaled through editing

Im buying a rx480 4gb for $270 because its the best option imo based on price/performance
But i was thinking on maybe throwing an extra $80 and get a 8gb with 3 fans. Is it worth it for the extra 80?

The high prices is because i live in south america
>>
>>58818062
yeah but what providers do you associate it with? i feel bad having them just use youtube since it's not the best quality and limits their choices.

this, or plex with webtools and the primewire addon
>>

For the additional VRAM ? Not really. But a card with a beefy cooler and three fans will run significantly quieter/cooler than a reference card.

Got an SG13 a few days ago, with the non-mesh front panel, and I would like the mesh front panel too.

Is there anywhere I can get this without just buying the case again with a the mesh front panel? I already emailed silverstone directly, but I figured if someone else happened to know how/if there was some vendor that sells just the mesh panel, then I may as well ask here too.

It can be found that low on ebay. How bad is the contrast and such on monitors from 2009? Is it PWM-free? tftcentral doesn't say because this model predates that review feature.

I dont think its pwm-free, does it really matter though? Also I live on oahu so shipping is a bitch to deal with.

the contrast is 1,000:1, I mostly just gayme, so I don't think it would really matter to me, though I've been eyeing the Sceptre E248W-1920 on amazon, luckily I have prime so It would be free shipping. would it be a better buy?

I'm running DELL E207WFP right now for some background info.

If you're going to get a bird then get one of the corvus family, like a jackdaw, very intelligent birds, they'll come sit on your shoulder and can actually talk (as in produce words not have a meaningfull conversation)
